NNAS process

Published

Hello everyone, I am new to this website.

I've found some information about the nnas process but all the information is quite old and also I couldn't find anything about a successfull NNAS application.

I just finished sending all the documents to NNAS so I have a few questions for you, hopefully someone can help me..

1) How long does it take nnas to issue an advisory report after submitting all the necessary documents?

2)What happens if I am "not comparable"/ "somewhat comparable" or "comparable"?

3)Have any of you went through a "competency assessment"? If so, could you tell me more about it?

4) Have any of you taken the NCLEX? How did you prepare for it and overall how difficult is it?

5) Have any of you applied to a nursing college even after being deemed "not comparable" or "somewhat comparable"? Is that possible?

Please tell me what NNAS has written on your report and what you did as a consequence!

Have a great day and thanks in advance to whoever will answer!:cat:

(Ps: I've got my nursing degree in Italy.)

I moved to Canada in 2008, went through the registration process and passed CRNE by 2010 and did BSN 2015-18

Hi SilverDragon,

I'm a UK nurse, currently living in Canada and am awaiting an advisory report for my NNAS application.

I've been practicing as an RN for 10 years but did the Diploma of Higher education at university before the swap over to degree mandatory requirements.

Are you saying from your post that you were required to have a degree to practice nursing in Canada?

Thanks,

Natasha ?

No but if I plan on moving higher then a BSN is required and a lot of jobs in general ask for BSN and as much as I detest writing I decided to bite the bullet and get it done

OK I see.

Do you think I will be accepted as an RN with just a DipHe?

Hard to say, from what I have seen on this and another site most UK nurses end up doing courses post assessment resulting in $$$$

I’m organizing all of my syllabuses from all my courses in the US to submit to NNAS to be assessed by Ontario CON. Does the NNAS or the CON require applicants to submit the course information from prerequisite courses (nutrition, anatomy, etc.) or just the nursing specific courses from nursing school?

I did. NNAS gave me a "comparable" report, and I have already been talking with Interior Health, while I wait to get my license in British Columbia. I am just waiting on my home state to send license verification and then we are almost ready to move.

Hi,

Do you have an update? I just sent form 25 and 37, also US educated and was wondering how the process has gone for others. Did you have to do NCAS? Have you found a job? Thank you!

After submitting everything and getting the comparable report everything moved quickly. Getting my license took a few weeks and I wasn’t required to take any additional classes or education. I got a job before we moved and it was easy and seem less. No interview. Pay scale is great up here and having a union and municipal pension are awesome.

It was fairly straightforward after getting comparable report. I got license in BC in approximately 10-14 days. They were so responsive:)

Hi,

in which province are you and what is municipal pension? I never heard about it.

BC. And I guess like a police officer. We pay into it and so does the province and when we retire say... @ 55 you get about $1500-1800 a month for life. Not bad
