NMC Test Online

Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

Good evening! Can I just ask if the CBT exam does not change? I have failed it this morning unfortunately. I would like to know if I sit the exam for the second time, will the questions change or the same set of questions will still be provided? Thank you guys for your response.

Hi! We're in the same boat, I failed my 1st sitting last Sept. 6. I was able to backread this thread from pg. 1 after failing the test (i was that desperate to search for additional tips) and I learned that the test questions are different on the 2nd sitting, I don't think that the items will be repeated since that would make it easier to pass the second time. Maybe we could exchange messages thru email, mine's: [email protected]

Failing the CBT was frustrating and discouraging. I would really like to talk to someone who experienced the same thing. I hope that we pass the second time! :)

HI can you also send me copy as well? thank you so much. my email is [email protected]

I sent you an email. Best of luck!

that's the spirit :) let us know once you receive yours :) when was your application put on assessment queue?

Well, actually, I still have to re-sit the CBT this October. I was very upset when I found out that I failed but there's nothing I could do about that failing mark. I just have to study again with more determination and optimism. :D

Do you know anyone who also failed their 2nd sitting? I really feel horrible whenever I think about failing the CBT the second time...

I am now really confused on what to read because I was pretty confident about my answers in the first one. I am not sure if they consider the time you consumed because I was able to finish at 75 minutes with rechecking of flagged items. I really don't know how to study for the 2nd exam. Please help. :(

Well, being choosy is not my option. And the Trust will have the final say regarding the area. Everything there will start as being bedside nurses. For theatre or like yours, some are having a hard time with the osce, since it's based on basic med surg and not OR skills.

Somewhere in the North. :-)

Well I guess my 2 years of bedside and critical care experience would come in handy. And thank God the cath lab is a critical care-cardiology-radiology-emergency-theatre combo area! We will never really know what the OSCE has up for us until we face it. Anyways, best of luck to all of us!

I know how you feel!

But cheer up! Let us not give up yet! I really felt lazy for the past 2 weeks and was unable to do anything to prepare for my 2nd sitting. Give yourself some time to 'grieve' LOL, talk and express your frustration to your family and friends about your failure, pray and you'll suddenly get back the vigor you once had to study for the CBT.

Sent you an email, but I think we have the same set of review materials :D

Hi just want to share, my friend already got her DL last Sept. 16, she was put on the queue Aug. 1. The other one, just received his DL the other day (Sept. 19) his docs were put on the assessment queue on the 8th of August. Approximately 42-46 days waiting time.

Still waiting for mine though :) been put on the assessment queue last August 24.

Let's just hope for the best guys and keep the faith. All of these will be so worth it soon..let's claim it na. God bless and best of luck to each and everyone of us.

Hi Guys,

For those who are scheduled to take the CBT, I highly recommend for you to religiously read the royal marsden book as almost everything that comes out in the exam is just there.

Pay special attention to the nursing processes and protocols that we're doing differently here compared to the health trusts in the UK. Also, notice that the nursing procedures with rationale can be seen in a box, rationale with "E" are critical items so make sure that whenever you encounter them in the future, they will be remembered.

Tip in answering the exam, always make the Code as your guide and prioritize patient safety.

The book contains 1k+ pages but depending on your learning curve, you may want to strategize your study time. Cramming works for me so I religiously read the whole book in less than 3 days.

I guess the biggest mistake that I made was I literally just skimmed and scanned the book and disregarded a lot of contents that I felt confident with. In addition, I reviewed for three months but I had week-long breaks in between which made me forget about the content I revised during the previous month. (I have a poor long term memory lol)

I learned things the hard way and cost me 130pounds.

Thank you botzkie RN for reiterating the relevance of reading the Royal Marsden Manual. I hope everything goes well with your application. :)
