I have the same problem. I encoded the wrong year on my employment date. I immediately informed the nmc and responded after more than 10 days. They told me that i cannot correct it until i got my pin. Im praying that it will not cause me any problem with regards to my application. Ive been put on assessment last june 20.

I emailed NMC already...waitig for their response. I already asked my friends their and they said I should call NMC hotline. But since you have that response, maybe I should wait for the email too.

Hi guys. From the USA and fairly new to allnurses. I am going through this thread from the beginning (I'm only on page 62 out of 235!). I do have a quick question though. Many of nurses here are talking about the different agencies they are affiliated with to help with the job hunting for a RN position. My question is whether or not it is mandatory to go through an agency when going through the process of becoming registered in the NMC and becoming a UK RN.

Hi PrincessUmi! Im very sad to hear that you did not pass your first attempt at the CBT! However, you do get another shot at it! I am also preparing to take the CBT. I'm preparing to make my first attempt in the middle of August. Since we are on the same stage, maybe we can help each other out. My email is ************ Please email me since we are new to allnurses and do not have the privilege to PM yet! Haha. Hopefully I'll hear from you soon!

Hey. It's not at all a requirement to getting your registration. Sometimes an agency can give you tips to filling out your application though. I was in talks with two different agencies, one of them did give me some guidance regarding certain quirks of the NMC application but i ultimately ended up doing the application and found a job in my own. I'm currently waiting for my application to be placed on queue, then hopefully it'll be a quick wait for a successful decision letter.

Wow! OK, that makes me feel better because I wasn't planning on going through an agency. Did the info you received from the agency help? and if so, do you mind sharing? I am just now qualified to register with the NMC. Took the IELTS UKVI already and hoping to take the CBT in August. Just one last question though...how long did it take you, realistically, from CBT to where you are now?

If it helps, let me share to you my experience.

I was hired first by an agency and subsequently got hired by an employer...then started the entire process of CBT to NMC registration. We were "required" to submit our accomplished NMC documents to the agency first before submitting it to NMC so the agency can countercheck everything. But I did not, I personally told them Im confident with filling up the forms (mainly from reading this thread hahaha)...and they agreed. End of story.

NMBI (Ireland) pales in comparison with NMC in a good way. The latter is just very regimented, strict and systematic. But for some reasons i've had more difficulty in completing NMC's forms.

And I'll bite in as well. I took CBT last week of May and has been put on assessment queue July 1st week. I sent everything through the fastest means (DHL, Fed-ex).. But its just an unusual situation where your licensing body works like turtles but boasts of being organized. Nevermind.

Hope it all goes well for you! Goodluck!

Thanks for the story nurse_cardio! I like to hear about others experience because it helps me along my own journey to the UK. Right now I'm reviewing to take the CBT. Wish me luck, and I'll definitely be posting to help others as well!!

Agencies like to think they know a lot about the CBT and OSCE when they're actually pretty clueless. Anyway, this thread is still a great repository of information for all things CBT and filling up of forms, albeit really cluttered and all over the place.

As for OSCE information, well, I don't really know what to say. It's more of practicing than studying stuff. If anybody has any questions, just feel free to ask.

HI Kurokocchi! Ive actually been going through this thread from the beginning and I have seen your name come up a lot. I figured you were done with everything and were in the UK working as a RN and I wouldn't be seeing you on here that much! Glad I've caught you! I'm still very early in the process, but How is it going for you? How was the OSCE? Im from the US and during nursing school we did a lot of our "skills" just like the OSCE is set up... so I'm not terribly worried. I just know that I have to brush up on the way the UK does things. Are you in the UK? Are you working? I am a little on the fence about going through an agency....do you think I will be able to find a job in the UK without an agency? Sorry to throw questions at you! LOL

Well, it's true I'm working as a nurse now here in the UK. I feel kinda bad not going back here after everything, so it's fine. I'm always happy to answer questions regarding the process.

As for applying for a job in the NHS (or any UK hospital) without an agency, I really don't know how that goes. HR does post job openings the last time I came to visit, but I never asked them how to go about it. I can tell you with confidence that there really is a shortage of nurses, so I figure it wouldn't be that hard to find a nursing job here. Alhough it might be easier with an agency since NHS trusts prefer to hand out sponsorships and employ by the dozens. Downside is it might be slower since agencies tend to wait for a certain number of candidates before they deploy.

As for the OSCE, you're not really asked to do tasks you don't already know how to do. I'm just gonna say I was a bundle of nerves during my exam, LOL. Just glad that's over now.
