NLN Results....

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I took my test on 1/27....I read on here some people are getting their results back in 12 days...well that's today. Does anyone who took their test that day have theirs back? How about those of you that took it just before then...are your results back yet?

I was fine this morning until I looked out my window and saw the mailbox. Then it hit me. Now I'm a NERVOUS NERVOUS NERVOUS wreck!!

Alrighty...hmmm. Well I'll be waiting on the mail truck.

If it was 500 I got--scratch that, guessed it right...however when I asked my professor and did a google search both said 50. Who knows. Better question...who cares? LOL I'm thinking that is a question they throw out cause it was on everyone's tests that I've talked to. Must be one of those questions for a test in the future.

And yes, how do we get moderators to make this a sticky or whatever? This is insanely long! And helpful to those taking/going to take the test.

I have heard this test is given at the end of the nursing program for the one school I applied to. Yikes. As if once wasn't bad enough. lol

yippie its stickied!

I know that an adult male of 80kg weighs 747 or so Newtons, and that a child weighs around 50 Newtons, so I assumed the answer was 500 Newtons in the exam. However, alot of people seem to have put 50 for that answer, so Im not sure. But i do know for a fact that an adult male weighs approx 747 Newtons. ????????

Hi, i don't mean to bother anyone here but I have just enrolled back into school. I am trying to get into the Nursing field which I know is highly competitive. I bought the NLN pre-nursing study book, and OH MY GOD, I almost died. I am 20 years out of highschool, and after seeing all the math I felt helpless and like an idiot..Can anyone give me any advise on what I should do pertaining to studying or getting help so i can pass the NLN test. Thanks for all your help. I really need this career opportunity, I held back on my life for so long and I am not giving up on success.

Hi Gabby,Im not one to do this, but there are 2 books i can safely recommend. Ive always been awful at math, and though my math grade on the NLN wasn't stellar (after i spent 3 months studying for that section) i can honestly say that if i didnt put in as much work as i did my grade would have been worse. I found these two books to really put things in layman terms for me and explain alot of things that i never ever ever understood when i was in school. I spent time just reading these books before i applied them to the work. Not sure when you are taking the NLN or if you will have the time to really read them.

1. Painless Fractions by Alycee Cummings (see link)

2. No Fear Math: All The Basics

I also got the No Fear Geometry book as well that helped to explain alot of things to me.

These books were my bibles while studying for the math section, and they really helped to explain alot of stuff to me, I was really upset about my grade, (and I'm convinced that all the questions i got right were test questions that were not counted) but when i think on it, had I not put all that work in i would have done much much worse.

I hope this helps

Good Luck

Go to purplemath.com Check out fractions, exponents, percents....etc. It helped me. I suck at math!

This is a vg geometry site. You can read about it and then test yourself on just about everything!!

I took the test on 03/03/07, I did not realize that there were 80 questions on the Verbal, and stopped after 60, because the NLN practice only had 60 question. I will be retaking the test. I think the answer for the Newton question is 500. Since you already has the mass in Kg X by 9.8. The way to remember is Newton the unit of Force. F=M(kg)*Gravity

I also am heading back to school after years of being out of high school. I am more focused now and have a determination I didn't have in high school. Probably because I didn't really want to be there! But I want to be a nurse and I want to learn! I'm taking Gen A & P or what others are calling A&P I. It's an accelarated online course with weekly labs and I'm doing fantastic! Swinging an "A" so far! Keep your focus and study. You'll do superb!

I studied a Pre-NLN Study Guide for about a month before I took the test and it helped immensely! I ended up with a 144 composite! I don't have the results in front of me so I don't remember the subject scores I got, nor the percentiles but it the percentiles ranged from 97% to 99%. Many instructors remind me that it's the older students returning to school that generally do better in the classes because they choose to be in the classes. Keep your chin up and study hard! Success is 99% BYA!

Hey all you Pre-NLN testers... I feel so bad for all of you having to wait for your scores! I live in central WI and took the test at a technical college near here. The results were printed out and handed to me directly after taking the test. I walked my results to the admissions office and handed them to the counselor! With my composite of 144, they were very impressed!... and I was extremely excited! But... the waiting game continues....

There are two technical colleges close enough for me to commute to. One accepts all applicants with an enterance exam, not the Pre-NLN. But there is a two-year waiting list. I applied in November and got my acceptance letter telling me that I can start the program in the fall of 2009! When I spoke to someone about that, they said I could expect to start a term earlier. Yea, January of 2009! HA! Wait, wait, wait!

The other school requires many more steps, including the Pre-NLN. That's why I took it. But they also have a two-year waiting list! HA! And, they only start the program with the fall semester! So, I probably won't get into that school until the fall of 2009 also!

At this point, it doesn't seem to matter that I had such an awesome score on the Pre-NLN! By the way, I provided the first school with a copy of my results four weeks ago. I thought I might hear from them afterward but still nothing!

I'm just hoping that one of the schools will chose those with higher scores to get into the program sooner. I'm almost 39 years old and really don't want to wait 2+ years to start the program! Time's a wasting!

Good luck to all of you on your Pre-NLN scores and getting accepted to a school you want to attend! I'll keep you in my prayers!

I got my results! I got a 127. I called the school to see where is stand and they won't tell me anything. I guess it just depends on what everyone else gets. I did really good in the math and so-so in the english and sciences. Now I get to wait again...

Congrats willbenurse and 91207 on your great scores!! That's awesome!! Bravo!!
