NLN Exam HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!

Published

:o I'm an LPN Student and in about 2 months we are going to have to take an NLN examination. I was wondering if anyone out there had to take a similar exam while in school and if you know of any web sites or books that I can get to help me prepare.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm an LPN student also. I took an nln exam after taking my last final last week. It was basically almost everything we learned in first semester, moslty consisted of fundamentals. We didn't really get to study b/c they only told us about it the week of. Everyone was nervous about it, but it was fine I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Thank you for replying to my post MissDemz.....you say that it mostly consisted of Fundamentals. You mean fundamentals of Nursing? WHere there any Human Body, Microbiology and stuff like that? I so appreciate your response. I was thinking about buying books and stuff but I don't want to purchase things I don't need. Also, I don't want to study too many irrelevant material.

Thanks again

Yes fundamentals of nursing. No micro, a couple of nutrtion questions, no real anatomy. One math question. They told us that we really didn't need to study, and they were right. It was basically what we covered throughtout the semester.

I had to take that test towards the end of the entire school year, to give us an estimation of how well we'd do on boards. Our results wouldn't affect our school grades & it was given during/around finals week, so it wasn't my biggest concern. When I got my results back, it said I had an 83% chance of passing boards. It had a lot of different topics on it, & so did my boards... but most if not all of them were the same. I think it's a good idea to take it, gives you a good idea of where your strengths & weaknesses are. I'm sure you'll do fine. Good Luck!

Don't worry over it, it was really easy, you should do fine.

Your book store should sell a study guide for this test. I know mine does. It's called The National League Of Nurses Review Guide for RN Entrance Exam. The author is Mary Mc Donald and the publisher is Jones & Bartlett. My college book store charges $24.95 for the book. I called today and verified this info so I know it's up to date. Hope this helps!

Hi there,

I took the NLN exam in Sept 04 and basically studied from the study guide for Physics for topics on waves and electricity etc. But I also studied SAT words - high frequency words from Barrons, SAT Biology and SAT Chemistry and basic Math calculations for speed. Stay focused and fill in all the blanks if you are running out of time.

Good Luck.

Starting my program next week.....

I have been studying the NLN book, but today I got on a Express Learn site for Nursing School Entrance prep--and the level of difficulty on the chem questions alone was ten times higher than in the NLN book and now I am spooked. Does anyone out there have experience 1-with the test ( I have not taken it yet) and 2--with Express Learn prep? I am confused why one group's questions are so much harder than the other. Thanks, Lizardmay
