Hi everyone - I am considering applying for the Jersey City NJCU ABSN program starting in 2020. Has anyone submitted their application?

Also @Chelly2628 sorry for the delay. Go to portage learning. You can take the course on that site. Albeit its a little pricey, but worth it

There are less expensive options such as North Central Missouri College.

I read in the handbook about the vaccines and health exam we need. Is everyone holding off, since it has to be done within 3 months of our start date?

@Kate Galbavy I was holding off until orientation, but since that was cancelled, I am not sure what to do! I also have to take the BLS class, I am not sure if those are available right now either.

Wall peeps....

Orientation scheduled for April 17th and they issued the following notice:

In addition - this is an informal notification of an important program delivery change. An official letter from the Department Chair and College of Professional Studies Dean will be sent electronically regarding an important change in the program delivery, specifically for the first semester. Given the unexpected challenges resulting from the recent pandemic, the institution has been mandated to shift all learning to an online format. Given the circumstances, I felt it necessary to provide an early notification in order for time to be provided for you to make an informed decision as to whether or not you wish to continue with your commitment to the Program, given such a significant change.

What is everyone thinking???? Can we get through this first semester online??

@Fitzy31 I feel like I worked way too hard to get to this point to give up now! I will definitely still be committing to the program. I didn't get any indication of the program being delayed either, but I did email back to confirm as I need to plan for resignation from my current job. I will keep everyone updated if I hear anything back.

100000% agree! I did a good amount of classes online in undergrad so luckily I do have experience with that but I am slightly worried about the depth of the coursework and how that will play out online. But at this point, idc I just want to start! LOL

I agree, I have worked towards this for 3 years! I plan to stay in the program.

@Kate Galbavy yay!! I think not being able to meet in person and form study groups may be challenging. I have a friend that's currently in a program in NYC and she said the support system is everything. But I think if we can get through the first semester online we will be in good shape!

That’s exactly my thought! I’ve worked so hard already and who knows if we can defer to next year... I can’t imagine going through the application process and the HESI all over again... additionally, I can’t imagine that a program like this wouldn’t also have virtual instruction...

if everything subsides soon enough, I think I study group will be crucial for us. Let’s see how this plays out.

I'm glad to hear they are moving forward with the Wall Summer start. I applied for the JC Fall cohort and am waiting to hear back. So far I have been accepted to 3 other schools, one of which is St Peter's which is also in Jersey City. The price tag is really low compared to a lot of the programs out there, but I can't find much information about the program. Did anyone else apply/does anyone else have info?

@Fitzy31 I agree! I think it will be structured very similarly to an in class environment. All we can do is wait and see, but I am glad we are all still giving it a shot!

It's been a little bumpy getting started this semester with online but the professors still have "office" times where you can still video conference them one on one about questions or issues you have. I def recommend zoom and you can still have study sessions just remotely.

I know I haven't posted here in a little bit but if anyone has any questions at all about anything in the program my email is [email protected]. I know the faculty has been crazy busy with coordinating with the state and with current students and hospitals so its been hard to hear back right away. I am currently the class president of the JC cohort, and I am here for you all coming in and want you all to feel prepared and confident walking in! ?

Hopefully this is all over soon, but just gotta adapt to the situation. That's what nursing is sometimes.
