NJCU ABSN 2020

Hi everyone - I am considering applying for the Jersey City NJCU ABSN program starting in 2020. Has anyone submitted their application?

@Fitzy31 I was surprised that we didn't get any emails but I can only imagine the chaos going on with trying to figure out logistics with the current cohorts. I was thinking that truly, the entire orientation could be done remotely (with the exception of the measurements for uniforms- but we can do that ourselves I feel like?). I hope they don't push our start date- maybe we will do something online? IDK hopefully we hear something soon!

@Fitzy31 I haven’t heard anything! I’m wondering the same thing... I hope it’s not pushed back, but if they have to postpone current classes I feel like that could be a possibility. Just wish I knew for sure for planning purposes!

I have not heard anything from them but they did cash my deposit check today. Has anyone done anything regarding financial aid? I was waiting until orientation/getting my student ID number to inquire about that.

Hey I just saw their website too. I tried calling them but it seems like they switched to an automated system only. I am going to email them to ask and update you guys. I can only assume with everything that is going on that they will make our initial classes virtual if this persists through May (which it's looking like it will). I cannot imagine that they will delay our program since that would also delay any following program's start date.

Hey I just got my gothic ID and logged in to see if there were any financial aid statements posted to see what kind of aid they gave me but nothing is posted. I only see the deposit in the system. You should have gotten an email from them with your gothic ID and password so you can access the NJCU blackboard system.

@otgd8 I'm assuming you filled out the FASFA? I didn't do it yet because I didn't know if I should do 20-21 school year. It said for Summer start you may need to select 19-20. And I didn't get an email hmmm

I filled out my FAFSA! I did it for 20-21 but I didn't know about the 19-20 thing. I'm kind of getting anxious about it though bc now with not having our Student IDs (and who knows when we'll get them) or getting to talk w/ financial aid at orientation, I'm nervous that tuition will pop up real quick without having much time to figure everything out!

We just got an email! At least it answers some questions and we'll have our ID numbers.

Well I am happy they finally emailed us! BUT I am surprised they did not just say that they are not making the classes virtual. =/ I am also concerned about financial aid because the email says that they are not sure financial aid will be available on the virtual orientation.

Did they share any information on the impact of coronavirus on the program? I applied to the Fall and am wondering what’s going to happen.

@BSSB they basically said they don’t know at this point what’s going to happen with our classes :/

Meaning they may postpone the program, or just don’t know whether classes will be virtual or in person?
