Hi everyone! I'm currently in the process of applying to NJCU's accelerated nursing program. Any current students or alumni have advice?
Anyone else out there applying to NJCU? Or any other accelerated programs in the NY/NJ area?
Does anyone know when would be the time where people hear back from the nursing school? I'm applying to the Jersey City campus so for me it would be in regards to that one.
Hi jazminjfuertes!
From what was communicated last year, they would release their decisions approximately a month after deadline. I received my acceptance letter on 3/22, as did all those that got in at Wall; last cohort, it sounded like they received it a little later, though on 4/1 (hah!), however I'd expect them to contact all accepted students around the same period. Good luck everyone, and wishing you the best!
Also, it doesn't show on this year's application info page on the NJCU Nursing website, were you all required to write a response to a specific question for your personal essay?

Thanks for all the helpful information! Yes, we had to choose between two questions.
Sorry another question. I know it says it's PREFERRED that you have a 3.0 undergrad GPA but do they have a grade requirement for the prerequisite courses or is it just as long as you got a C or above?
Hi jazminjfuertes,
Yep, you technically are not required to have a 3.0 GPA, as they evaluate applications holistically. I actually made note about it (as well as my application profile) in the previous year's application thread; hopefully it helps!

Hi!
I am also applying for the fall 2017 cohort. I submitted my application on Monday and am concerned that my transcripts won't be verified in time! I didn't realize that this step was part of the process that was initiated after final submission until I paid and officially sent my app.
Looking for some feedback on what would constitute a good candidate. I have strong academics, test scores and a good essay and references but a weak (in my opinion ) resume. I have been primarily a stay at home parent, working was secondary and spotty. I plan to start volunteering at a local hospital but didn't get started in time to add to my resume. I wonder if anyone has any input on how the selection committee weighs the various components of the application. This program is my first choice as it is least expensive and shortest. Ive also applied to Caldwell but it is much more expensive and longer. The waiting is STRESSFULL!
Hi eoshea!
I think a lot of people have the same concerns with the transcript verification. Someone previously posted:
"I also asked the program assistant about this issue too and she said it's fine and that the application can be viewed and is considered active for the admission process and by the time they make their decision, your transcript verification will be complete. So don't worry basically"
So hopefully everything will work out! Best of luck!

I called nursingCAS and asked the same question.... they said they won't begin the verification process until you pay and submit your application.
