NJ Nurse Licensure by Endorsement (Reciprocity)

Published

Recent Changes on New Jersey Nursing Licensure by Endorsement (Reciprocity) Requirements for nurses that had their nursing education outside USA:

All applicants must apply and submit CGFNS' Credentials Evaluation Service Professional Report ( Credentials Evaluation Service Professional Report® | CGFNS International | Global Credibility) . Per NJ BON, this is to ensure that applicants' nursing education from other country match the standards of nursing education in NJ.

This changes took effect last April of 2015.

We questioned the NJ Board of Nursing why this changes is not reflected on the Application Packet. The answer that we got is that they send mails instructing applicants to submit CGFNS CES Professional report.

Again, above requirement applies to nurses that hold active RN License from other states but had nursing education outside the United States of America.

This means that after you pass the NCLEX and got you RN license from New York and you wanted to be licensed in NJ, you have to apply and submit CES Professional report from CGFNS to NJ BON. CES cost around $350. CES is different from CGFNS' CVS that was submitted to NY Board of education.

I got my NJ license! Exactly 4weeks! They did not ask for CES report! I'm not sure why they did not ask me or maybe because I did my undergraduate/associate degree in nursing in NJ, I got my BSN in the Philippines! I'm so happy! best Christmas gift ever! But I lost a job offer! any ways, I got a phone call from other nursing facility and hospitals they schedule me for interview! Thank you so much Lord!

Your entry to practice degree was in the US so that's why you did not need CES

Hi. I know this post was last year but Im hoping you guys can help me. Im a licensed RN in NY. And i just applied a license endorsement in NJ. They asked me for a CES report from CGFNS. I read the packet of CES, and some states like NJ requires English Proficiency Exam. I am aware that you need to have the English exam if you applied for RN by EXAMINATION. Do i need to have the english exam too for my license endorsement?

Due to issues in recent years now you need to meet the same qualifications for endorsement as examination especially since NY doesn't require proof of English language proficiency. Poor English skills were linked to sentinel events.

I dont think so. As you are already passes NCLEX RN. Please contact NJ BON .

NJ changed the rules. Endorsement requires the same credentials and competency as examination for a few years now

Hello everyone, I hold active RN License from NY state but had nursing education outside the United States of America. And now I want to endorse my license to NJ. I have CES report from CGFNS. Do I need to submit English score to the board as well? I tried to find the description from the website but I can't find it. Please help?

NJ requires demonstration of English language proficiency via one of a few exams including TOEFL

I never had to do english test. I just got my endorsement license in dec.
