NJ Nurse Licensure by Endorsement (Reciprocity)

Published

Recent Changes on New Jersey Nursing Licensure by Endorsement (Reciprocity) Requirements for nurses that had their nursing education outside USA:

All applicants must apply and submit CGFNS' Credentials Evaluation Service Professional Report ( Credentials Evaluation Service Professional Report® | CGFNS International | Global Credibility) . Per NJ BON, this is to ensure that applicants' nursing education from other country match the standards of nursing education in NJ.

This changes took effect last April of 2015.

We questioned the NJ Board of Nursing why this changes is not reflected on the Application Packet. The answer that we got is that they send mails instructing applicants to submit CGFNS CES Professional report.

Again, above requirement applies to nurses that hold active RN License from other states but had nursing education outside the United States of America.

This means that after you pass the NCLEX and got you RN license from New York and you wanted to be licensed in NJ, you have to apply and submit CES Professional report from CGFNS to NJ BON. CES cost around $350. CES is different from CGFNS' CVS that was submitted to NY Board of education.

Where are you licensed first before endorsing to NJ? I'm licensed in NY and would like to endorse to NJ. I also studied in the Philippines and read at NJ BON that I need to do toefl or ielts. What steps did you do to have endorsed license in NJ?

Thank you! For the college transcript do I have to wait for the request from CGFNS to my school or I can just ask my school to send them a copy? Also I read in NJ BON that international educated nurses need to pass toefl or ielts how did you bypass on doing that?

You have to prcoess your CES application first. You cant just send your things. Its gonna give you the forms you need to send to your college.

I really dont know why i didnt need to take the toefl. They didnt tell me i didnt need to do it or anything. I dont really ask questions, all i did was wait for them to tell me if i had to do it or not. But from my understanding, i AM A US CITIZEN. I already passed my nclex i just need endorsement, so why did i need to take toefl for?

Thanks for the info! I was doing the CES online and it actually says NCLEX PASSERS don't need English proficiency exam , now that's cleared. I will ask more questions about the NJ BON endorsement once I got through CES verification. Thank you so much! You're a great help!

Ah yes i forgot abt that! It did say that when i did CES too. I wss confused whether to sign up for Toefl before then cuz i read everywhere that it was STILL necessary for endorsement. I just waited until NJ BON would tell me to take it or not. Lol. Glad i could help!

so we don't need to take English proficiency exam if I already passed the nclex exam?
