NJ Licensing for graduates of other countries

Published

I am a graduate of BS Nursing in the Philippines. I passed my cgfns and my english proficiency exam. I am now trying to complete the documents needed for the nclex exam for new jersey. I have several concerns. First, In the application I have to pay separately for the fingerprinting. Can I just pay the $195 (application plus license fee) and the $33 (fingerprinting) at the same time so I just send the money once! It's cheaper. Second, is there an online application for BON New Jersey? My NCLEX application was online so it was easier to process it. Even payment was online. Third, The application is asking me for a transcript of records from my school at the same time asking me for a certificate from the cgfns to be sent directly to BON New Jersey to be eligible to take the test. Isn't it that passing cgfns meant that I have complied the requirements in lieu of my schooling? Isn't my cgfns certificate and my visa screen enough proof that I have all the credentials to take the nclex exam? Except of course for the fingerprinting. Please help.

Thanks for the information. NJBON emailed me the application process. It is the same in the the website. So, I know now what to do. First, I will take my english exam (TOEFL) then I can send my papers to CGFNS for CES. Then I can send my application to NJBON so that they will allow me to take NCLEX . I hope this is right. Thanks a lot! God Bless!:blushkiss

The total fee of $195.00 made payable to the New Jersey Board of Nursing

(a money order or personal check is acceptable);

When the Board receives the Certification and Authorization Form for a Criminal History

Background Check, you will then receive instructions on the fingerprinting process.

Hi there... i'm thinking of applying for a reciprocity to NJ from california. Is it okay if i just pass the Certification and Authorization Form first before the

Official Application for Licensure by Endorsement... and just pay $75 first before 120? will they still process it? i'm not sure about the sequence for applying and i'm confused of how i'm going to be fingerprinted. :)

You need to go to NJ board of nursing (BON) website and follow requirements for foreign trained nurse http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/nursing/fornurse_app.pdf

I also suggest you start reading the sticky Primer to working in the US near the top of this forum

Suggest that you wait until you get your results from the NLE exam before you start anything.

NJ requires that you have CES, credentials eval, done by CGFNS before they will even look at your application. Again, since you took the NLE, you are required to submit passing results before they can do anything.

You can see the requirements for that at www.cgfns.org

The police dept usually does the police clearance. Suggest that you have a read on the Philippine Forum, there is already much on the same topic. But again, wait until you get your results before you submit anything.

hi.. i need pieces of advice.. i'm a nursing graduate here in the Philippines and I just passed the June 2007 NLE. I'm planning to start my application for NCLEX in NJ, however, our school required us to present the request for transcript form, the breakdown of educational program for international nursing programs form and the nursing program verification form coming from the downloaded file of the said state. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to locate the said forms needed by our school. How can i access the said file in the internet? thanx... :wink2:

It can be accessed through their website. I recommend reading Suzanne's 'Primer Sticky" above first and it also contains links to relevant websites.

Go to your respective State BON's website and find the application form for foreign-educated nurses.

As of writing, the said link within the NJ BON is 'inaccessible'. This maybe because of server issues or they are updating the requirements. Just follow the instructions on it if it is available already. Plus, if this is for NJ. You are required to use CGFNS' CES service as it is actually CGFNS who will be evaluating your transcript on behalf of NJ and they will just send in their CES report to the NJ BON. You still have to apply to both though and pay separate fees but your transcript goes to CGFNS via their CES program and that is what your school is asking. You can download it on www.CGFNS.org.

Follow instructions on it and in conjunction w/ NJ's instructions as well. NJ requires to pass an English exam. Check their website on w/c one they accept; they previously only accepts the TOEFL.
