hi i just finished MY BSN course here in philippines and im applying nclex in NJ. basically im a legal resident of the US (greencard) and i already have taken an esl course back in NJ. do i still need to take the toefl exam??
Looking at CGFNS website you need TOEFL IBT
ok thanks a lot for the reply.. really appreciate it.
anyways was this the page you were looking at? http://www.cgfns.org/sections/tools/faq/#13
i assume that i could take either of the tests right? (toefl pbt, toefl ibt or tse) does it really matter or as long as i pass the test?.. im just a bit worried coz i dont know how it works, like if im taking the IBT is there any possibility that they would require me to take for instance the tse (which i heard is hard)..
but i think the IBT is a wiser choice because it has everything like reading and writing as well as speaking tests and registering for the test is easier since its all year round...
and one more thing, this confuses me more: (this came from the ETS website)
"The TOEFL iBT measures how well you read, listen, speak and write in English and use these skills together in the university classroom."
and
"The Test of Spoken English™ (TSE®), the most widely used assessment of spoken English worldwide, measures the ability of nonnative speakers of English to communicate effectively. The test is used for employment, graduate assistantships, licensure, and certification purposes"
pls correct me if ever im wrong.. thanks in advance!
Very expensive to take nclex in states requiring CES. i Prefer Vermont or CA, LOL
Is it true that, Passing NCLEX_RN for State of vermont, they will issue license... and having this license, they, the Vermont BRN, will enforce you to work to that state in a year before you could endorse you license to other state? and is it true that Vermont RN license can be renew while your out of that state or US and still processing some sort of immigration papers without taking some CEU?
I actually looked at the visa screen handbook and it breaks it down to what RN English exams are required. Page 13
http://www.cgfns.org/files/pdf/apps/2008%20VS%20Handbook.pdf
is it applicable to me though since i'm a immigrant already..
im just making sure with the statement above because the source came from an application handbook for visa screen..
but reading the statement again, i guess it doesnt matter really as long as the english test is accepted by cgfns which will later on evaluate me on my CES
correct me again if im wrong, thanks!

sorry, bu there are states that are once again requiring the local license before they will grant permission for one to sit for the nclex exam. if you were on the other side, you would want to know that the nurse passed the licensing exam in their own country first before coming to the us. and we are actually expecting the us government to require it again as it was required in the past for all. all other countries actually require the locall license before they will consider anyone for licensure there.
you are required to have the ces completed, and if nj requires the english for licensure there, then it is required that you have it completed or cgfns will not issue the ces.
please refer to the website for nj for their specifics. and if they require it, then you will not be able to wait until after the nursing exam as you will not be given permission to test without the ces being submitted to them.
