Nipissing SPP 2019 Application

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi there! Looking to connect with others who are applying to Nipissing University's Scholar Practitioner Program for Fall 2019.

Hey guys! I don't know why but I haven't been getting notifications, so I missed all your posts!

Once we Nipissing sends out acceptances I'll create a FB group! I had my interview last year on March 10th. My greatest advice is to just PRACTICE! If similar to last year, they are going to give you a specific question that you will need to do research on and then have 3 minutes to answer. They will also ask you other regular interview questions like what are your strengths, why are you an ideal canadate etc. As well, when I got to the interview last year - we had to write a 1 page response to a question revolving around courage. I can't remember the specific question, but we were give like 20mins or something to write a 1 page reflection answer.

wishing you all the best!

but what the heck is narrative inquiry? i know there is a thread from last year that i will take thorough look at to help but any advice?

Narrative inquiry is the pedagogy that Nipissing SPP has based the curriculum around - specifically an article written by Clandinin and Connelly (2000) - I'm on my mobile phone but I will attach the article to this thread later, as well as other ones I read for my interview last year.

My advisor for my application last year said this to me in an email and if really helped: I recommend that you prepare to the point that you can speak about what narrative inquiry is and how it is done. Why is this type of learning important? Come with a strong reflection.

best of luck guys! I KNOW how intimidating and scary this process is. I applied to ONE school last year (being the SPP program) - just try your hardest and let your sparkle shine!

Was this 1-page question about courage collected at the end and used towards admissions? Or was it just an activity to get your mind working etc.

So when I got to the interview, I was given the a blank sheet with question about courage on it and told to write a response. I was give sometime to do it but not long, about 20 mins from memory and then I handed in the sheet. There wasn't much instruction on it. I don't believe I was asked any questions about it, but they most likely looked at it.

if you don't mind me asking, do you know approximately how long after the interviews they send out the acceptances?

would you be able to attach the article by any chance

So I checked through my computer and I realized that the Clandinin and Connelly (2000) is actually a book and I purchased it on Amazon last year before my interview. You can check your local library if they have a copy. For anyone who goes to York U, they have a few copies at Scott Library.

My apologies, I thought it was an article you could find on Google Scholar. I've attached other articles I used to get a sense of what N.I was in the field of nursing. Hope these help!

Hey everyone! Congrats on the interview invites - I’m nervous but still super excited! Thank you all so much for posting the great interview resources too! Kind of a silly question, but when you replied to the invite to confirm your attendance at the interview, did you get a reply back?

Hey! When I interviewed last year I did not receive a reply to my interview confirmation. I would just say call the registrar office if your worried that your email didn't go through ?

Hello. In the email Nipissing sent us, they said we could bring notes to help talk about NI. Did you do this? Are these just points and one can read the entire thing off their notes?

Yes I did write a few pages of point form notes with my answers, but I kept them in my bag during the actual interview. I would suggest memorizing what you wrote down, instead of reading right off the sheet ?
