Nightingale College Spring 2023

Updated:   Published

Hello,

I am applying for Nightingale College, hoping to start on January 9th for their BSN program.

So far the admission process is going smoothly for me, I am taking the entrance exam today.

I'm wondering if anyone else is doing the same or are alumni from there and have anything they'd like to share about this school. ?

I am an LVN from Northern CA and I start in Jan. Im really excited. I transferred a lot of credits that were taken over 10 years ago and this is the only RN program that will allow me to transfer so much. I passed the MDC course now working to complete the HESIs for 246 and 266. I just finished the first attempt at 246 HESI Friday and it was very challenging and I'm awaiting my scores. Any advice for taking these HESI's and getting a high score. I really need to pass and test out so I won't have to start traveling for clinical until the last 3 semesters.

I just finished the 1st semester.  I made Honor Roll ? The process has been amazing from start to now.  Passing the entrance exam with no remediation, passing pharmacology with no remediation.  I tested out of every course they offered to test out of and started my 1st semester as a Junior.  I just made Honor Roll; and will graduate Aug 2023.  I started May 2022.

I would say study your math if you're wanting to test out of pharm.  Review your notes if you're a LVN/LPN to test out of Med Surg.

That's amazing! Im in the process of taking my HESIs to test out so I can get credit for those classes as well. Any advice on how to get a high score to not have to take it 2 times? They gave me study guides but my first attempt exam was not the same material as the study guide. Im still waiting for my scores.

Hello. Please I would appreciate it if someone puts me through here. I just heard of nightingale and would want to give it a shot for BSN. I’m done with all my prerequisites and hoping to enroll in January or their next admission. Is anyone already in the school? How is it going and do you recommend it? Is there an entrance exam like TEAS or HESI ? Please I need a general information about this school. Thank you in advance.

@kirstenxcarter Hi! I saw that you are going through the process and also from NorCal. I am in the same boat as you! I tried messaging you but It wouldn't let me!

@xojen hi! you can email me and I’ll give you my # from there [email protected]

Hello, I am interested in applying as well. I have a BS in health science, and I have completed all my perquisites. I am almost done with my master's in health administration. While reading this thread many students are LVN's and their preparing to take the HESI exam. Is everyone required to take the HESI? Or only those who are LVN'S or students who have not taken any pre reqs?

You should just look into MEPN

The HESI exams are optional tests for advanced placement for some of the core nursing classes they are similar to what we would take in LVN school or on the job working as an LVN. If you pass the HESI you do not have to take the class and associated clinical. If you have the option I would recommend taking it. It will save you tons of money. Cause this school requires traveling to the clinical sites which you have to pay out of pocket for. Not sure if its offered if your not already a LVN tho.

Thank you, for the feedback. I have applied to Entry Level Master of Nursing programs, but I was denied in the past. Nursing is impacted here in CA, so I feel I have to be open towards BSN and ADN programs. I had a phone conference yesterday with an advisor it went pretty well. A bit pricey but I'm not surprised. If I am accepted, I will definitely attend. I ordered my official transcripts and was given study links to prepare for the entrance exam. Although, I am completing my masters, I'm willing to put my masters on hold, and pursue nursing. I will go back and finish my master's in health admin because, I don't like starting things and not completing them.

The reason why I am getting my masters is to strengthen my application for nursing school.

But if I am able to start now why not? Why continue to prolong? I'm just ready to start right away. I am aiming for Feb 9th start date.

@Synrose please was the exam timed? Was it proctored or lock down browser and  if it was timed , did you have enough time to complete the entrance exam? Please I’m writing it in two weeks. Need to get myself prepared. Thank you

Hi,

I believe the exam was timed, although I'm not sure how long at this point. I tend to be a fast test taker so I didn't keep track. I had more than enough time.

It was taken through examity where there is a proctor. You show them your whole room and desk set up before you take the test. You're allowed one sheet of blank paper that you can take notes with. At the end of the test they will ask you to rip the paper into pieces.

I didn't study much on the accuplacer but if you look it up on Google or Youtube there are resources you can use to study. Quizlet is another good resource. There is also study resources from nightingale emailed to you by your advisor.

I ended up acing the math (which is wild it's my worst subject) and reading but fell short on the writing. I will be taking the writing class because it is free and I did not want to retest for the accuplacer.

It wasn't a hard exam but when I took it, I wasn't fully in the academic mindset yet. :')
