2020 NHSC Loan Repayment Program

Has anyone heard anything for the 2020 application cycle? Hoping that the third time applying is the charm.

Didn't even get a credit check, but just received my finalist letter yesterday and need to confirm interest by 08/08!

Extremely grateful but to my understanding, if I confirm interest for this award then I am automatically taken out of the running for Nurse Corps, which is my preference, as I have way more than 50K in loans..

Anyone else in the same boat? I can't believe they make you give up another potential award for something that isn't even guaranteed! Though.. the person on the phone said that receiving a finalist letter means you have a very good chance of getting the award!

I'd offer my DTI ratio but I honestly don't know how to calculate it haha

Well congratulations! I’m hopeful I’ll be getting an email soon! The best thing about the NHSC is it is not taxable where the nurse loan repayment is. You can continue the program for several years to continue paying off your loans and it’s tax free. I’ve also heard from several other NHSC recipients that once your in they give you priority for continuation of contract. Just a little info for you to think about before you say your going to wait on the other.

Oh WOW! I actually had no idea about the priority for continuation. I had known that there was a possibility for continuation but didn't know that priority was given to current participants. That definitely changes things and thanks so much for the heads up!

CONGRATS on getting a COI. I haven't heard anything yet. Someone I work with got their COI today as well. I am hopeful I will get one also.

Got my confirmation email today! Applied last year and did not get it. Reapplied this year, credit check in March. Site score 19, DTI 50%. Very thankful!! NHSC asked for banking and routing number, hoping to pay this off within the next month! Prayers for everyone! It is a blessing!

Got my COI yesterday, still very nervous that I won't get it but at least I'm in the running! Credit check in April, site score 19, DTI 60ish% (not quite sure how to calculate).
How common is it for somebody to get a COI and then not get selected for the program? I've tried searching online and can't find much information on that.

Received the SUD award yesterday. Contract co-signed July 30. Check your contracts to find out early it seems.....

Got the email today!
