2020 NHSC Loan Repayment Program
My site score is 20. I applied in 2019 and didn't get it, then figured I would try again in 2020. I was surprised when I got the email (Aug 2020) that I got it. Payout was Nov 2020. It is such a burden relief. Remember, it is not just site score. They also go by ratio of loan debt and salary.

grades for roane state, anyone??
Hello, I currently attend Roane State's nursing program and I know the pressure you are all feeling about getting into the program. I now understand why they have to be "picky" on who they choose. The work load can be overwhelming at times. The content isn't hard, but the quantity is consuming. You basically don't have a life- just studying. We have 3 weeks left, then finals and I'm so looking forward to a break. As to prerequisites, I'm thinking you pretty much have to have a high gpa, and the more of them you have done the better. It seems that everyone that started the program with me was a 4.0 and already completed their micro. Also, all of us 4.0er's are just hoping to hold on to B's in the program:) Anyway, It is hard to compare because there is a whole different group of people applying, and that plays into it too. If you do get in it is great, but it is refreshingly exhausting! Just remember to fasten your seat belts!!

Gavinsmom, I'm so glad to hear you got in PSCC. I sent my decline to them this week, and I was hoping you would get my spot. Please stay in touch and let us know how your workload is. -chs45

jmusiklover, I don't mean to discourage you at all, but you really need to pull up your gpa even more. It is way too competitive to even be under a 3.5. You MUST have at least a B in all your sciences. I know they say on the application to have at least a C, but there will be others that have higher grades than that and it will eliminate you. From what I hear, the reason they want to see a high gpa is the nursing program is very intense. I hear that if you make A's in the science prereq's, you will be lucky to make C's in the program. I think that is why they really don't consider people with C's in their science prereq's, because I guess they assume you will not pass the nursing program. I know I'm sounding harsh, but I'm speaking from the advice of a friend that has been through the nursing program at Roane State. She basically told me that the science prereq's are nothing compared to the program's intensity. So my advice retake all sciences to achieve the highest grades. And don't forget - Pray!

With you all on the anticipation, but I did get accepted into Pellissippi's program. I'm wanting to go to Roane State though. As to a list to compare- there is no way they can, because the applications vary from year to year. Some have all prereqs done and others do not. We are basically at their mercy! I did read somewhere that the letters went out on the 27th of April last year, so if that is the case - 16 more days!!

By the way, does anyone know how Pellissippi is. I did all my pre-reqs at Roane State. I know Pellissippi's program is new, but is there someone out there that can comment on this first year. Thanks!

Roane State Community College RN Program
Also, I forgot - If you are applying for fall 2011, they only consider completed classes in the fall of 2010. This is due to the fact that they make their decsion before spring grades are in.

Did you go to the nursing meeting Oak Ridge had the other day? Well, It was a meeting about the whole admissions process. They said that they look at your overall gpa in prereq's ONLY (for example, she said if you took phisics and got an "A", it doesn't count because it is not a prereq). You will get extra points for "A" earned in a&p I and II and college algebra. The entrance exam is just a passing grade of 75% or more. It is competative, but you do have a good gpa and you passed the entrance exam. Don't worry too much. I have to eat my own words, because I'm applying for 2011 also. Just try to do the best you can in your a&p class, and you should be fine. Oh, they also said this past year they had 653 applicants - only 213 were actually qualified, and out of the 213 they chose 160. For the fall of 2011 they are only choosing 120.
