Has anyone heard anything for the 2020 application cycle? Hoping that the third time applying is the charm.
Good Luck to everyone that has applied!
I got an email on Friday that I am a Finalist for the 2021 NHSC LRP award. I am going to accept and continue my interest despite also waiting on Nurse Corps and having a lot more debt than 50K.. I just cant take the gamble! A couple of questions... If accepted, how would they pay me? monthly? We don't pay taxes on this, correct? Anything else I would need to know?
Thanks in advance!!

With NHSC you'll get one check for $50,000, it will take awhile to hit your bank account so be prepared for a wait. It's not taxed! With Nurse Corps I received monthly payments, it was taxed so could put you in a higher tax bracket since it's considered income. I have a lot more student loan debt then $50,000 as well, I plan to keep renewing until I've completely paid them off or at least down to where I'm comfortable. I hear if you request a renewal you'll almost always get it. Best of luck!

I wish I could "love" this comment! Thank you so much for the insight (and you have received them both so you can speak on both of them), I appreciate it!! There has been some speculation that some new bill that was passed will actually make the Nurse Corps LRP not taxable too, but no one has said for certain on that. The renewal part sounds so amazing as well. Thanks again!

I have no complaints about the program, as long as you keep up with your missed days and your point of contact at your job completes your online documentation every 6 mo you shouldn't have any problems. I actually switched sites with Nurse Corps then switched back to my original site (grass isn't always greener), they were very understandanding of my situation and approved both transfers.

I know this is an older posting, but can you share some insight into the transfer process? Or can I DM you regarding this?

Sure! It was a pretty easy process, you just complete the request through the portal system. I believe they did call me to get more information on why I wanted to transfer. They approved me with no problem and I actually got approved to transfer back to my previous site. Feel free to DM me if needed.
