I wrote a month ago about my dad having bladder cancer. He had his cystectomy today. They took the bladder, prostate and seminal vesicles. They also looked around inside everywhere and didn't find a speck of cancer. The last word I got was that after carefully testing the biopsies, everything tested negative for cancer. So at this point it looks good. He is also in an experimental pain management study with something called dura-foam. It's a foam-type morphine injected directly into the epidural space that is supposed to give him pain relief for 2-3 days. Plus he will have a PCA as needed. They are going to keep him mostly asleep for a few days too, so that ought to help.
I talked to my dad today on the phone and he's doing so good! He sounded a bit goofy from the meds, but that's ok. He said they have had him up walking int he room allot today and he's handling the pain pretty well. Just thought I'd share!
I'm very sorry this is the first time I have seen this thread.. I'm very sorry to hear about your dad's cancer dx, but glad to hear that they feel they got it all! I will pray for your dad...and his continue healing..:).
WOW! Thanks you all so much for your responses! I feel like I have friends out there I didn't know about! :) I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. God bless you all.
