Newman University DNAP CRNA 2024

Published

Good luck to everyone applying to Newman University's DNAP 2024 cohort! In the words of CRNA Jon Lowrance (Anesthesia Guidebook podcast), competition among applicants ends once CRNA school begins. To help cultivate this mindset, this forum is for applicants to share tips and pearls they've found along the way for preparing for the highly anticipated interview!

I'm reading "Thinking, Fast and Slow," "Make it Stick, the Science of Successful Learning," and "Costanzo's Physiology" to prep! Podcasts like "Anesthesia Guidebook," "Core Anesthesia," and "ACCRAC" have been helpful in giving me an idea of what to expect for both the interview and understanding the stress of CRNA school!

What have you found helpful? What pitfalls do you anticipate? What did you most enjoy from your shadowing experience?

I interviewed on Wed and haven't heard back. Doesn't sound very promising now. Congratulations to everyone accepted!

Those of you who have heard back with a "no interview" email, did admissions give you feedback?

Those of you who did get a spot, congratulations! If you are open to it, I would love to know your experience (ICU specialty, years of experience), GPA stats, and anything extra you did that helped you stand out as an applicant!

I haven't heard back one way or another but I'm assuming I didn't get an interview and also got lost in the process of "no interview" emails. I just want to continue bettering myself for CRNA school and the application/interview process in general.

There are two approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.

One: create a facebook page. This link may be posted.

Two: Premium members may create a "club" by clicking on the Breakroom/Clubs link in the Communities tab at the top of this page. Then click on "Create A New Club" in the green bar at the top of the page, and followinstructions.

References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.

    Thank you.

I got a no-interview email and requested an application review. My CRNA mentors were surprised as I was that I didn't get an opportunity to interview as they had helped guide my progress and thoroughly critiqued the various components of my application (statement, resume, transcripts, mock interviews). Whether I am granted the review or not remains to be seen!

I'm not a premium member and I also do not have a facebook but if someone creates a club let me know! Or I can always create a facebook just for school!

Thank you for the reply CamillusRN. I had the entirety of my application heavily critiqued as well, on multiple platforms and with previously accepted SRNAs.

When I do receive my no-interview email, I will request an application review as well. That is a good idea. I'm trying to remain hopeful and keep pushing forward in this process. I really believe feedback from the program will be instrumental in learning more about what I can do to become a more competitive candidate moving forward.
