Hello, members.

Actually, I'm here under false pretenses, as my username implies -- hahaha. But I need the information that I'm sure is here. I have a fiance who's in the Philippines right now, and she's just been granted her K1 visa. Shortly, she'll be joining me here in Indiana, where we'll be married; then the username, nursehubby will be valid. Almost a year ago, I had the honor of being with her as she received her BSN from Mindanao State in Zamboanga City, Philippines. We plan for her to take the NCLEX and the CGFNS here in Indiana before taking the state licensing exam. She holds no license in the Philippines. Is our thinking on the right track? We'd appreciate hearing from Indiana nurses, and especially those of foreign education, to tell us their views.

Thank you all for allowing me to represent her until she arrives.

Welcome to the site! I moved your post to the International Forum, where you'll likely get the best responses. This forum contains a great deal of info regarding US licensure issues for international grads. Good luck!

Suggest that you read the Primer at the top of this forum for information that you will need to have. Your fiancee will not have to obtain the Visa Screen Certificate as she will be coming over on the K-1 visa.

But all licensure requirements will still need to be met. Suggest you check out the requirements that can be found on the website of the BON for your state. The NCLEX-RN exam is actually a national exam and is accepted by all fifty states and the US territories, there are no longer individual state board exams and have not been for quite sometime. There are only about five states that still require the CGFNS exam, and if not needed, then she does not need to take it. And if that would be required, then that would have to be passed before she would be given permission to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam and be able to get her license in the US.
