newbie saying hi!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Just wanted to say hi!! I'm sooooo glad i found this sight. I'm starting my pre-nursing in the fall. I'm a little worried cause i have been out of school for about 11 years now. I have alot to look forward to but at the same time i'm just worried that i'm gonna fail.

Hopefully it will all work itself out. I planned to work realy hard and i hope that i will get some good advice along the way, from this sight.:)

Hi & welcome to Allnurses. Try not to worry about being out of school for awhile. I was out for 30 years before I started nursing school and just graduated in May. Good luck to you.

Hi Smadar :welcome: to all nurses.

I started back last fall and was out of school for fifteen years. I did just fine and you will too.

My words of wisdom would be to figure out what learning methods work for you (I do flash cards for memorization), keep on top of your assignments, and remember to take a few minutes of the day to do something fun.

"oldie" saying hi back :)

I had about 14 years between my prior degree and starting back for nursing. The biggest transition for me was realizing my hairstyle and wardrobe preferences weren't in step any longer, lol!

I totally love that!!!!! I think i'll be okay chasing around kids all day my hair is up most of the day anyway.

Welll.....so was mine :) Still, in "my day" the poufy top and sprayed out sides were the college fashion; I suddenly found myself surrounded by kids who had stick straight hair out right out of the '70s! That, and my fave leggings would have to go when I saw how many flare-legged (again, think '70s!!) jeans were in class.

Thankfully I took notice before embarrassing myself, lol....I mostly just dressed like all the other students' MOMs anyway :)

I was a poufy hair girl too! :lol2: If we wait a few years that style will be back but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

You know, I finally got rid of the last of my leggings (how OUT of fashion, right??) only to find that the dratted things are coming back in the fall! Seriously!

I used to joke with a classmate that I had T-SHIRTS older than she was, lol....
