I have a plan and I really need some comments on this.
When I will pass the IELTS,i'll apply for a visa screen, then apply for an immigrant visa (so to take the long but sure way).I am aiming on applying for a job in California. I am already an NCLEX passer. They say that due to retrogression, one would wait up to 5 years just to wait in line for immigrant visa application. While waiting for the approval of the visa, "is it ok or possible for me to apply and work in New zealand for 2 years or so?I think it might be a good experience for me. And I will be able to help my family in our financial needs."
What do you think?

That is a good idea but be aware that if you sign a contract for the US and things start moving quickly and you are in NZ and have another contract the 2 may conflict. There is nothing to indicate this will happen but something to be aware of. Who knows you may even like NZ and want to stay.

I am a nurse in NZ, but do not work in nursing. I would not reccommend that you come here. You would probably want to work in either Auckland or Wellington and it is expensive to live in these cities. NZ is not the open society many believe and assimilation is not really possible. The economy here is in recession and I suspect many part-time nurses here will be increasing their working hours as their husbands become redundant. Why not try Australia? That is where most New Zealanders live anyway. Bigger, richer economy; better housing and higher standard of living.

An article from the NZ Herald about the economy. Just last week everything was fine and now the truth is coming out. NZ is a small country with only 4 million people and the economy is also small and vulnerable.
good luck with the US. I know nurses who have waited for a long time to get there (many here in NZ); it takes time, but it is worth the wait. Good money, nice people and you will find many Fillipinos to make friends with...

Please don't come to America either. Everything is very bad here as well.

NewZealand is a nice place to stay and look after family. The economy is now not so good like any place any where in the world. NZ is 100 times better than the Phillipines and it will be an experience for you. SO try it my dear.

My understanding is the salary is far lower in NZ than in Australia; many NZ nurses work over there. If you have no specific draw to NZ, you would be better off working in Australia.
