New York University (NYU) ABSN Fall 2023

Hi everyone! 
I haven't seen a forum for NYU's Fall 2023 ABSN program, and decided to start one. Please feel free to add any information related to the program, application process, any tips, stats, words of encouragement for those accepted into the program, etc. All the best to everyone. I hope everyone's new year is off to an amazing start! ?

If by any chance you receive your decision  today could you please let me know. I'm So nervous . I haven't received anything yet . It's just in case I don't receive mine I'll just withdraw my application. I'm tired of waiting  .

I applied as a traditional fall transfer and still waiting for my decision, but they just updated the portal to say all applicants should hear back by June 15th. Not sure if it's the same with ABSN.

Hi all,

I was accepted today!

I've been checking this board (and past ones) constantly pretty much since I applied. It's been extremely hard waiting around for such a big life-changing answer, but I wanted to provide some information about my experience in case it helps:

  • I applied RIGHT before the priority deadline, like an hour before 3/1. I submitted my prerequisites soon after I got the invitation to do so on the portal. 
  • My undergrad GPA was ~3.1, but I had taken some extra pre-med classes after college and had a higher GPA (~3.7). I received all As in my prereqs (except for a B+ in gen chem, which was from my undergrad degree coursework). 
  • I have several years of experience in healthcare including areas of clinical research, compliance, public health, and clinical quality admin work. I had a recommendation letter from an amazing doctor I work with, and I definitely think that helped. I also worked very hard on my essay and must have revised it at least 10 times before it was finally ready.
  • I did not see any changes in my portal for MONTHS and drove myself bananas checking the portal and Albert constantly. I did know a decision was coming when I checked at ~9am on Monday (yesterday) and saw a small change to my applicant portal: the very bottom part, where my received transcripts were listed previously, was gone. I did check Albert later that day and saw my estimated cost of attendance in the financial aid links. In the late morning /early afternoon today, I checked my portal again and saw that EVERYTHING was gone except my personal info at the top. I checked again at almost exactly 2pm and saw the option to view my decision and read my acceptance letter. Weirdly, I still haven't received an email ?. Maybe because I checked before they sent it. 

I hope this helps. I know firsthand how waiting around for the decision is absolutely AWFUL. Worst case scenario, if it doesn't work out, I know from obsessively reading these boards that people have gotten in after receiving rejections during past application cycles.

Hi everyone, I just got my rejection. 

Graduated with a bachelor of science in health science with a 3.84 GPA this past May and A's in all of my prerequisites besides Microbiology (B-) and Chemistry (B).

I applied in September 2022.

I don't have any health care experience so I assume that held me back. I was hoping that they didn't care that much about that considering it's a second degree program, but unfortunately here we are. Congrats to everyone who got in!!

sorry to hear that, your stats sound so good too... its def probably the experience. A lot of programs prefer people with experience over those who have none. I also didn't have much, so im opting to do some volunteering until I apply again, in hopefully January. Im hoping to fill my schedule up with a handful or so, that way I have a variety of different experiences in the hospital setting in the short time I have before applying again. I would also hopefully get some good letter of reccs and it's the only other thing I can think of doing beside retaking classes, which would just be expensive for me and not guaranteed I get As..

I finally got my admission letter on June 6th. Honestly, don't know what I'm going to do since I'm already in the Lehman college nursing program.  

I have time until June 13th to decide...

 

PS. I applied on March 25th. My GPA is 3.7 and I have one C grade in prereqs.

This is not the way to get into Nursing education. Never quit. In healthcare it is always a waiting game.....waiting for a small bowel to start working again, waiting for stomach to start digesting again, waiting for a pancreas .. Now .you know the waiting game.
