Hi everyone!
I haven't seen a forum for NYU's Fall 2023 ABSN program, and decided to start one. Please feel free to add any information related to the program, application process, any tips, stats, words of encouragement for those accepted into the program, etc. All the best to everyone. I hope everyone's new year is off to an amazing start! ?
I honestly think the reason why their letters have taken so long is because they are waiting for the UC students (usually like half of their applicants) to be done maybe...? most UCs are supposed to end this week, so I think that's why they make their final date June 15th. really telling considering they sent me my acceptance the literal day after my own graduation. but this week should be the last!! good luck to those still waiting ?
NURSING STUDENT ZNG said:Hi, yes. I am an international student with F1 visa. I got accepted to the program but won't be attending since they don't give any nursing scholarships to international students
Sorry to bother. But when sending your undergrad transcript, did you send an unofficial one or one from ECE
autumnleaves2021 said:hey! does anyone know if they make exceptions for chem taken online? I was already accepted and just have to submit my transcript for chemistry now but nervous they are going to realize it was an online course and not in person
Hi! I'm pretty sure they accept online courses that were taken in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years (as noted on the website: https://nursing.nyu.edu/academics/baccalaureate/prerequisite-courses?tgid=nyunursing-tabs-14576&tid=general-requirements)
So, if you took them during those years, you're good. I'm not sure about courses taken specifically in the year of 2023, for those I would check with them by phone/email. I took gen chem in a hybrid format fall 2022, and it was accepted. Good luck!
ABSNstudent24 said:Hi! I know this is last year but I did see some people were between Pace & NYU's ABSN program. I'm currently in the same boat and only have a day to decide. Did anyone turn down NYU to attend pace? Or does anyone have any advice? All advice is much appreciated!!
Good morning! Ultimately, I chose NYU. So I can only speak to my experience and let you know why I chose NYU over Pace.
Pace seemed lovely in that the program is only 11 months and the NCLEX pass rate is high. The tuition is also significantly lower. However, for me, I decided on NYU because I followed my heart. That's what it came down to. LOL I had friends go there who loved it. The program is a bit longer (16 months) but it's okay because 11 months honestly did seem a bit scary. LOL And tbh, I did so much research on both schools and found out from past students that Pace had a high attrition rate. Not sure if that's changing
I am not sure of your situation but I have to work while in school. Pace strongly advised against it. This may sound crazy but I am able to manage 2 jobs while in school which I'm not sure I would have been able to do had I went to Pace (mainly because of how fast the program is). I probably wouldn't have had time for a job. Hopefully, your situation is different than mine. But I'm just putting it out there just in case.
I'm finishing up my 2nd semester and I am having a great experience thus far. Most of the professors so far have been amazing— They genuinely want you to succeed. The course faculty send helpful reminders and announcements to aid you in being successful. And I've met some pretty amazing classmates as well who I've formed solid study groups with
All in all, I'm happy with my decision.
My advice to you would be to do things early—Don't procrastinate because it may come back to bite you later on. As a matter of fact, get things out of the way ridiculously early. LOL If you get opportunities to study, do just that...especially if you have a busy lifestyle. Self-care is really important as well. Form study groups if you're a study group type of learner! I cannot emphasize enough how helpful study groups have been in terms of ideas from classmates bouncing off of each other and concepts being better understood. Also, bring your best self to classes. Always have faith in yourself. Never doubt yourself. Ask questions! When I got to nursing school, I saw microphones in the lecture rooms. It was a bit daunting for me. But I got used to it now. I participate and ask questions as much as I want now. LOL I'm really shy, so sometimes I shy away from using the microphone. However, my point is to get involved and actively participate. Some professors will appreciate it and will remember you. Go with your heart. Wishing you the best and much success in nursing school. ✨ Let me know if you need any other tips/words of advice.
