Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone!
I haven't seen a forum for NYU's Fall 2023 ABSN program, and decided to start one. Please feel free to add any information related to the program, application process, any tips, stats, words of encouragement for those accepted into the program, etc. All the best to everyone. I hope everyone's new year is off to an amazing start! ?

Good morning! Ultimately, I chose NYU. So I can only speak to my experience and let you know why I chose NYU over Pace.

Pace seemed lovely in that the program is only 11 months and the NCLEX pass rate is high. The tuition is also significantly lower. However, for me, I decided on NYU because I followed my heart. That's what it came down to. LOL I had friends go there who loved it. The program is a bit longer (16 months) but it's okay because 11 months honestly did seem a bit scary. LOL And tbh, I did so much research on both schools and found out from past students that Pace had a high attrition rate. Not sure if that's changing

I am not sure of your situation but I have to work while in school. Pace strongly advised against it. This may sound crazy but I am able to manage 2 jobs while in school which I'm not sure I would have been able to do had I went to Pace (mainly because of how fast the program is). I probably wouldn't have had time for a job. Hopefully, your situation is different than mine. But I'm just putting it out there just in case.

I'm finishing up my 2nd semester and I am having a great experience thus far. Most of the professors so far have been amazing— They genuinely want you to succeed. The course faculty send helpful reminders and announcements to aid you in being successful. And I've met some pretty amazing classmates as well who I've formed solid study groups with

All in all, I'm happy with my decision.

My advice to you would be to do things early—Don't procrastinate because it may come back to bite you later on. As a matter of fact, get things out of the way ridiculously early. LOL If you get opportunities to study, do just that...especially if you have a busy lifestyle. Self-care is really important as well. Form study groups if you're a study group type of learner! I cannot emphasize enough how helpful study groups have been in terms of ideas from classmates bouncing off of each other and concepts being better understood. Also, bring your best self to classes. Always have faith in yourself. Never doubt yourself. Ask questions! When I got to nursing school, I saw microphones in the lecture rooms. It was a bit daunting for me. But I got used to it now. I participate and ask questions as much as I want now. LOL I'm really shy, so sometimes I shy away from using the microphone. However, my point is to get involved and actively participate. Some professors will appreciate it and will remember you. Go with your heart. Wishing you the best and much success in nursing school. Let me know if you need any other tips/words of advice.

Thank you sooo much!! I really appreciate it. I'm having trouble finding the full cost of the Tuition bc it currently says 62k for the year and other people are saying 120k. Which one is it haha

You're welcome! The full cost of tuition (without student housing) is around $120,000.

I got admitted to both Pace and NYU but ended up going to Wagner ABSN program. It has always been my dream to go to NYU but the cost scared me plus the commute. I live on Staten Island and the clinicals are on the island for Wagner which is so convenient. Tuition 75K.
I also work at the hospital. So while it's hard working full time and studying full time, it is definitely manageable.

pace seemed too fast and I heard you 89 or sth to pass the class. I had nurses from pace and she said it cost her also 85K with all fees and stuff

I also heard that nyu can place in clinical in anywhere. So living on Staten Island and commute to Bronx wasn't an option.

I asked the nurses and they told me work smart.

yes you get the name from nyu but the price is also high which you need to consider. I didn't want to end up paying more than I needed to. Reach out if anything
