New York University (NYU) ABSN fall 2019

It's a little early but I figured I would start this thread as we all begin to get our applications in!

Hi llrr9,

I have been accepted to Mount Sinai a few weeks ago and paid my deposit but just got my acceptance letter to NYU yesterday and having a hard time deciding which school to attend. If tuition wasn't an issue, I would pick NYU hands down but I don't know if the extra $40k would be worth it.

If anyone has any other insight between ABSN Mount Sinai and ABSN NYU, I would love to hear what more information.

If I end up getting into NYU, that's how I feel as well. Money is definitely a factor for me, so I think I'm going to end up going to Mount Sinai. Keep me updated, it would be nice to have someone from the area there!

Omg! Hoping we both get in ? We can def connect and figure out the whole transition together

I'm from the Bay as well! (originally). Have been living down in Orange County for a few years but I'm happy to see some other California friends on the thread. I was accepted yesterday, however I won't be starting the accelerated track until Spring as I still have some prerequisites to complete. Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!

From California as well (: grew up in NorCal currently living in LA.

I'm from the Seattle area! Currently in LA for school. Now that I've heard from NYU, just deciding between here and Emory. They are pretty comparable price-wise, so I'm a bit torn. Anyone have any input/heard anything about Emory in comparison to NYU?

I’ll be giving up my spot at NYU, I put my deposit down for Wagner!

I already put down my deposit for Duke, I don’t think I’ll be switching gears for NYU. Best of luck to someone on the waitlist!

When did your acceptance letters say you had to respond by?

I called admissions and they said two weeks from the date you got accepted

Based on last years thread, they sent out the next batch of acceptances two weeks from the first one so I would expect Friday, April 19. But again, ya never know, that is just my guess! The exact dates that I found from the fall 2018 were October 26, Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Dec. 7, and Dec 16.

I guess that makes sense if those who have been accepted already have two weeks to put down a deposit, the admission team probably uses that to determine how many letters to send out.

Hi again!

SO...turns out NYU ABSN program does not allow deferring to another semester, did anyone know this? Because this is brand new information to me. Other schools are cool with you deferring your admission, but NYU ABSN program isn’t.

At first I was confident in NYU thinking I can defer for a full semester and start in Spring 2020 saving more money. Another school I was accepted to was Pace, they allow deferring but their spring semester is in Pleasantville campus.

NYU is obviously a better choice but it’s also much more expensive. So now I’m not sure what I’ll do and I only have a week or so to decide. I’ll keep everyone posted, any advise is of course appreciated!

Hi aya91,

Where else did you get accepted to and why are you choosing NYU?

I've paid my deposit to Mount Sinai a few weeks ago and just got accepted to NYU and I'm having a very hard time deciding between both schools. If tuition wasn't an issue, I would pick NYU hands down,. Would love to know why you are picking NYU.

I also have taken my prerequisites at BMCC in 2018. Maybe we were classmates ?

Hello,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I just posted that I am also a bit conflicted. I am deciding between Pace and NYU. NYU is my top choice, but it is so much more expensive compared to Pace. Pace accepts less students, which I prefer. I have a little more time to decide, but I am currently torn.

Did you deicide on NYU or PSON? If you took Saturday classes like me, we probably were classmates :)

Good luck!!!!
