New York Rn license validity and renewal requirements

U.S.A. New York

Published

I'm planning to endorse my Rn license to New York, and I'm still not sure about some questions after several hour surfing of New York State Board of Nursing web site. Please help!!!!!

1. Do New York Rns renew your licenses every 3 years?

2. Is the license expiration date based on the birthdate, such as the end of the birth month?

3. In additon to the Infection Control Course, are continue education and pratical hours required for licence renewal?

Thank you in advance for your time and replies!

Renew licences every 4 years, with infection control.

Expiration based on when you get the licence. Not on Birthdate, although I had heard that was going to change.

The only repeated requirement is Infection Control, but if you want to stay up to date and competetive, you better have CEU's fo the certifications needed to maintain jobs! I have a certification that needs 30 hours in 2 years.

I have another certification that is `150 hours, (CEU's ) in 4 years.

NYS dosent require it, but if I want my job, I better have it!

CEU=Continuing Education Unit.

Could you please help me I need to renew my infection control to renew my NY state registered nursing license. I hope that this can be done online. Thank you

a quick google search gave me this website : Infection Control Course for New York State Healthcare Providers ... online cert for $25.

Just google "renew infection control certificate" and you'll get other options.
