New York Presbyterian Nursing Attendant

Published

Hi I'm new here and I originally posted this in the general forum but I think that posting this in the New York forum might be better. I recently applied to New York Presbyterian Nursing Attendant - BSN Students class of 2017 and 2018 and got a call back for an interview. I was wondering if anyone else has applied and has been through this process. For example, what to expect during the interview, what should I bring with me, what is like working for NYP and etc. ?

I was in the float pool... but when I floated to units there was usually no one else or just 1. I remember one day I went to the Oncology floor and the nurse were telling me that their part time Nursing Attendant has been there for 9 years and after many requests, refuses to go full-time because of the burnout.

It is a Catch-22 really. Because the compensation at NYP is (relatively) good for nursing assistants the place likely doesn't staff as many as it should. OTOH without said high compensation it would be difficult to attract and maintain assistant staff they do have.

Nursing assistant jobs in NYC on average do not have great compensation packages. Those with union representation tend to be a bit better, but places seem intent on working aides/assistants to death in exchange.

Hi everyone! I'm interviewing on Friday for the Nursing Attendant position at NYP Columbia University Medical Center. Any insight as to the interview process, or the job itself? I chose the 3-11pm shift during the initial phone screening. Thanks! :)
