New York Presbyterian/Columbia (NYP Email) New Grad

Published

I got an email yesterday from NYP/Columbia that I am selected as a "top candidate" and can skip the meet and greet and go to an interview with Nurse Leaders in June. Has anyone else received this now or in the past and could provide advice? I know the process is long being hired at such a premier hospital. Just wondering if anyone could give me some insight.

Thank you!

@rmariee thanks for the reply. Did u already take the nclex? I'm just not sure how serious they'll take me while I'm still in my last semester. The requirements state otherwise but just a little nervous.

I just saw that you mentioned they offered you a position! Congrats on that. Can you tell me when you graduated and when u passed? Just so I have an idea for time reference. You didn't know anyone at that hospital right? How do I inbox you personally?

I graduated December 2015... I take nclex this week. Yes they will take you seriously if you are still in school and meet all the requirements. I don't know anyone who works at that hospital other than my boyfriends roommate is a occupational therapist there but she didn't help me at all and she doesn't know any nurses or anyone in administration. I just submitted my resume, filled out the application, and went to the interview event and then on a private interview with a unit.

Just finished the test for the April 2016 event! I was surprised that there wasn't really an application or a place to attach my resume...is this the same test that everyone took last year? I saw that some people were sent emails saying they were a top candidate - was that before or after the new grad event? Thanks so much!

Before and after the event I got an email saying I was a top new grad. If you login to check your status on the dashboard you can still upload your resume even after you've applied if you didn't upload a resume at the beginning of the application.

Hmm, I just logged on and don't see a place to upload my resume. It only prompted me to complete the test battery and now my application status says "application received."

once you login click on the update profile and there should be an area that says resume and it should let you upload one..

Thanks so much @rmariee! I just uploaded my new resume...for some reason, my old one was on still there from when I applied to an externship last year. Hopefully they'll see my new one!

You might be talking about the battery test. If so, this is an exam to get an idea of the type of person you are. They give these tests to everyone who qualifies to be reviewed.

Yes, that is exactly the test I was referring to! Hopefully I did okay on it...I've been told that I'll receive an email with instructions for the next steps if they want to invite me to the April event.

Good luck, I'm hoping I get invited too. I missed the last one because I was looking at the actual new grad page for upcoming dates instead of the career events page.

@rmariee,BSN,CNA may I know which unit you had an interview with? I assumed everyone got the second email to fill out the form but I did not get any email for a second interview.

Congrats!! Are you a new grad?? From what I've heard, they mostly ask behavioral questions and what would you do in certain situations and some people have shadowed on the unit as well.
