SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program

U.S.A. New York

Hello,

Is there anyone out there who has attended, or is attending, the SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program who can share your experience? I really don't know anything about the program aside from what's on the website and what people have said on AllNurses.

I have been accepted there and Columbia and am trying to make a decision. I feel like I have lots of information from Columbia but really none from SUNY. Thanks - any info would be really helpful.

bump...I really need help. Is there anybody out there who can speak to SUNY Downstate?

@tnbutterfly Thank you

Hey Briginit,

I applied and patiently waiting for my reply from Downstate or not. I wanted to know what was your gpa and TEAS test scores like. I am kind of panicking that I would not get into the program because my gpa was like a 3.5 and I did somewhat ok on the TEAS exam.

Hi! I'm also waiting....and waiting

When did you hear back from Downstate Medical???

Also, the program is different from Columbia, isn't it? As for the Columbia's accelerated program is a combined degree program BSN/MS?

If you are only going for your BSN, recall that Downstate Medical is way cheaper than Columbia's...

@esalandy My GPA in my pre-requisites is close to 4.0 (because I'm kind of nerdy when it comes to school), and I did well on my TEAS. I'm sure you should be fine with a 3.5; your chances are probably even better if your grades were better than that in your science pre-req's. Good luck with SUNY and PM me if you have any questions.

bringinit, I was wondering what you decided in the end. I too am currently trying to decide between Downstate and Columbia for summer 2012...

@ar411 I sent you a PM

bringinit, would it be possible to PM me your e-mail address? I am unable to send PMs since I have not posted enough on this site...

Anyone else want to weigh in on this?

Anyone?

hey everyone .

I kinda wondering about appyling Suny downstate nursing . Im now going new york city college of techonology and taking pre required class. So far getting A.. hopefully will continue like that ;)

I have baccalaureate from my c ountry Turkey on Business Adm 4yr . plus 4 yr accounting expr. So i really would love to get in Accelerated BSN nursing prg but the problem im worrying is i finished 2 year college 3.1 gpa than applied 4yr university and i didnt study so much but finished so but got lover then 3.0 gpa for last 2 yr. the weird thing they dont cumulative my first and last 2 yr GPA , so this is a problem , I m thinking maybe the some credit evolution places can evolution my transcript and calculate cumulative gpa.

Ps : CUNY accepted my Baccalaureate degree w out any problem.

finally my question is : If i am below 3.0 gpa and good TEAs result and good GPA on pre request , plus refferance letter , work experience may help me getting accept or not at all ?
