  1. Srprn, I received an e-mail to take the battery test last Friday Dec. 6th, and took the exam the day after. I then received an e-mail on the afternoon of Dec. 13th saying that I passed. Did your message contain a name of your coordinator? If so, I would contact them, or contact the NYP Talent Acquisition office. Good luck!
  2. Have any of you received an interview/heard back yet??
  3. I just found out that NYU is going to start their BSN-DNP pilot program next fall, so you might want to look into that!
  4. Thanks GetErDone-- I am also starting my ABSN program in NY this coming fall, and have been freaking out about getting a job as soon as I graduate :) I'm glad to know others are on the same boat! @juliaann - how far into the program did you start applying for jobs? I can't help but think that interviewers would not like the fact that I am applying for jobs when I am only halfway through the program and have not even taken the NCLEX..or would they like the fact that I am being proactive? And I agree with everyone on networking, networking, networking all the way!!
  5. nursing homes are always looking for nurses-- it's no hospital job, but after working in a nursing home for a year or two, you can then apply for hospitals! Try looking into archcare.org for NY-based nursing homes.
  6. Not even :) I am starting my accelerated BSN this coming fall, but am already freaking out about getting a job, since I need a year's worth of experience before entering for my MSN program! I know that getting a job at a eminent hospital is basically impossible without having any experience...so I was just wondering what I could do to increase my chances to the max! That's amazing you got your dream job!! I admire your tenacity! What was your first job fresh out of nursing school?
  7. Where did you end up going for nursing school?
  8. Did you get a job at Mount Sinai? If so, how did you land this great job? Congrats!
  9. Try going to archcare.org -- their facilities are known to generously hire RNs fresh from school. Good luck!
  10. I think it's a matter of whether or not you want to continue your education with a MSN, DNP, Ph.D.. I paid my deposit for NYU's accelerated BSN, because you are basically guaranteed direct-entry to their Master's programs, which also has a program on adult acute care, which I really do want to go into. If you want to become an RN, I hear that name does not matter. But otherwise, name does matter (as for jobs, it may also be..an RN told me that her daughter recently graduated with honors at Hunter, and she's struggling to find jobs..) Hope that helps!
  11. I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!! And just like you guys, I am freaking out about the tuition costs...have you guys made your decisions?? My heart starts racing every time I think about taking out student loans..
  12. Exactly.. Interestingly, I read from another thread (and actually heard from other RNs) that the name of the school does not matter, but your grades and references are what matter the most in the hiring process. I guess experience is always the key, but how are you to gain experience if no one is willing to hire you right after your graduate? It's a catch-22!
  13. Is It easier to find a job as an RN once you graduate from a school with a name, especially as these schools have teaching hospitals (NYU Langone/ NYP Columbia).? For graduates from these programs, was this the case for you?
  14. ahhhhh got wait-listed :/ I'm still hopeful!
