NYP New Grad "Invite Only" Career Event

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

Over the last month or so I've been slowly making my way through New York Presbyterian's New Grad Nursing Program application process. After applying online several times unsuccessfully, I finally recieved news that I was being considered for new graduate opportunities at all NYP locations. I was then asked to complete a Nursing Career Battery Test. About a week after the test I was phoned and asked if I would be interested in attending an interview 'meet and greet' (if you will) with several nursing directors at the campus of my choice.

So here's my question! Has anyone been through this process (or something similar) at NYP? I'm trying to figure out what I'm in for in terms of this interview process. I've been told to bring 15 copies of my resume along with some other documentation. This opportunity is something that I'm desperate to make happen so any and all insight is appreciated.

I still did not hear anything since attending the event a month ago............

I recieved a call yesterday regarding a possible position so there's definitely still hope for anyone still waiting.

Hi! I also recently had a phone interview and was told that the department would contact me directly to schedule an in-person interview in 1-2 weeks (I'm guessing after the holidays probably). kiki1984- I can't believe they declined you after all that time of waiting! I'm so sorry to hear that- I hope your job search is going well. I was just wondering if anyone had a positive response from them. I have an offer from MSKCC for a research assistant position (not nursing, but I hope that after 2 years I could be hired there as a nurse), and I have to let them know if I'm accepting by Monday, but I still have this interview scheduling with NY Pres pending. the NY Pres is my dream job, but after hearing about this application process, I'm a little nervous!!

Thanks for your advice on this thread, good luck everyone!

Hi Jessie,

Thanks for your concern but after being declined, I got a random phone for cardiac position so I'm currently working there in cardiac floor regular full time position not through the new grad program so I'm thankful. Hope your new job is going well hopefully you will get into NYP as well.

Hey everyone, I just got an 'invitation' to attend this even on May 13. Any tips or insight as to what the 20 min interview will include? Thanks!
