The employees at BMCC can't seem to tell me why there are different dates & are always giving me conflicting information. Please advise if anyone knows anything!!!

i am also set to take classes too and i haven't even gotten anything about advisement, let alone registration! have you?

Hello All,

I am a pre-clinical nursing student at BMCC right now and I know that early registration already passed. Students, like myself, whom are enrolled in the school the previous semester can register in May for Summer/Fall classes. All other students would have to register during the regular registration days for that term. For more information, you should check the school website at www.bmcc.cuny.edu for registration and advisement information.

Best of luck to all! :p

cola78i am also set to take classes too and i haven't even gotten anything about advisement, let alone registration! have you?

I just went into the school and said that i wanted to get advised for summer session II. Then i went online and registered for my pre-req's. Once you are advised they will allow you to register online, but if you are not advised you will not be able to register online. If i were you I would go at your earliest convenience and get advised. I also took the FYE class ( first year experience), which by the way , the dean passed by to welcome us, and she said that the nursing program is one of the most competitive in BMCC. They start their selection by choosing from the 4.0 and less. I heard that this last semester the lowest GPA accepted was 3.7:uhoh21: so in her own words she said "alot of you will be looking into the class, instead of being in there" .....what words of encouragement.....well at least she was being honest.:crying2:

I am taking 3 of the four pre-req's in the fall ....do you guys know which classes you will sign up for?

Good luck to all and I hope we all get in:rolleyes:

I am enrolling in the Fall as well.

So far, i plan to take Child Psychology (i know its not a pre-req at BMCC, but it is at schools i have looked at in NJ and by the time i am done with pre-reqs, i will most likely be living in NJ and will attend Nursing School there).

I am also going to register for either CHEM 118 or CHEM 121 as both are pre-reqs for A&P I & II.

Any sugestions on whether Chem 118 or 121 is "better"?

Many thanks and good luck to all!

You should take CHEM 121 and if you need organic chem take the second part CHEM 122. I took CHEM 121 last semester and got an A. Also take PSY 240 Developmental Psych when you get a chance because it's transferable to many nursing programs.

Good Luck!!!:)

I agree! My advice is to speak to Mr. Sierra about what you will need. He is the preclinical advisor and KNOWS what you need. Getting pieces of information from other students may mess you up in the end.

THanks for the responses.

Mimine - - wow! an A - that's awesome. Did you work your butt off to get it? Was it a very hard class? Do tell!

Actually it was the class that I did not spend much time studying for because in high school I had to teach myself CHEMISTRY, so that helped me alot. However, I am waiting to see how CHEM 122 is, so many people are afraid to take it. I'm not, and I will be take a&P 1 this fall I hope that I do well in both subjects including Nutrition.:)

This class will be very hard for someone who has no knowledge of chemistry, but if you study, and ask questions (as many as you should), you'll do fine. I did not even have to buy the textbook. However, we had lab and class participation and attendance are very important.

Geez last semester I studied more for Spanish I than Chemisty I and I got A's in both classes. YEAH!!!

CHEM 118 is for the Respiratory students, CHE 121 for nursing students has to be taken in order for you to take BIO 425. Some students get permission to take both at the same time, but if you're science savy do try, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Four Classes that determine your entrance into the program

ENG 101 PSY 100 BIO 425 MAT 104

Good Luck!!!

I have not received anything for registration yet either & it is July 30. When is the first day of school? And, can we register online right now if we want to through Panther? Or, do we have to register the traditional way by standing in line all day & running to get enrolled in class? Please advise or send me an email to [email protected]. I am very confused about all of this & would like as much info as possible.

As for talking to Jose Sierra, he does not talk to students that still have to take pre-clinicals. Now, the students have to go to the general advising room next door to nursing. I was informed by the main nursing secretary that Jose Sierra can not help me. As for the general advisors, they do not really help. If anyone has any helpful info, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

i called there about a week ago and they told me that advisement/registration materials should be mailed out soon. they also said that if i don't receive anything by august 20th to physically come into the school for advisement. i need to be advised before i register b/c i'm technically a transfer student. i think the online registration through panther is for students that have already attended, not for us newbies.
