Does anyone know what Albany Med starts nurses at who have about 6 months experience- not sure if that is considered a new, graduate nurse or not...

Specializes in ED.

New grads make a pathetic $19/hr. With 6 months you would probably get the same. Nurses go there for the experience not the wages.

Specializes in CGRN.

I would be interested to know comparisons from other area hospitals. Ellis? St. Peter's? Saratoga?

Specializes in ED.

Ellis is union so they do pay the best. Dont know new grad wages tho. St Peter's for new grads is around $21 and thats for all of at peters health partner hospitals. Saratoga I have no ideas on.

I will tell u that st peters offered me $25 w 5 years experience and Ellis offered more.

Thank you! Yikes. Paying back student loans is going to be more painful than I expected.

Get a year pf experience then go agency. Favorite healthcare has a lot of local contracts and wages bump up to around $35 for med/surg.

Thank you NurseVoldemort! I hate to sound like I'm all about the money, but as a mature person with a family and student loans, unfortunately compensation is something I have to consider. I'm going to try to get a tech job at Ellis this year, hopefully that will give me an edge when I graduate.

Specializes in Hemodialysis, Operating Room Nurse, PACU.

probably you'll start at $25/hr. At least that's the recent RN reclassification leads you to. Personally its a pile of bull.
