New TEAS V Science Section

Published

Has anyone taken the latest version, the TEAS V? My test is coming up April 6. I have the ATI version V study guide, and the McGraw Hill book.

What should I be sure to study when it comes to the latest version of the test?

Hey NAM123 your questions was not clear. But I took the TEAS V and did well on it using both the ATI and McGraw books, I did not purchase the online exams in hindsight I probably could purchasing they may have help raised my score a few more points. The most important tip that I found was first stop stressing about and surfing the 'net for TEAS tips, and actually take up the books and start to review them cover to cover.

I cannot stress enough that you should time yourself. 90% of the people I knew who took it ran out of time and 75% had to retake it because they did not get the scores that the schools want. Use the practice questions under real test taking conditions and with that and prior knowledge you will be fine.

So i am reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy confused.. does TEAS V cover rocks, tectonic, rock formation?

My exam had no geology on it, I believe that happened on older exams (TEAS 3/4). Nor did it have any questions on physics either. But everyone's exam is different, mine had only one weird question on the sun and the ocean and that was it. I probably did get that one wrong but I could live with that. It mainly A&P and then some chemistry.

hey guys.. for math part do we need to know the conversions.. like memorize all of them or are they going to give it to us?

what were some common ones yall saw on TEAS v?

Wonna hear a funny story.. I had decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to get into an LPN program.. I went through all the steps, found a school, they tole me I had to take the TEAS so I went to ATI and bought the study guide and the online tests and I have been doing the book and some other online stuff I found and then today I was reading something on here and saw "Version V" and I thought hmmm what is that?? So here I am 2 weeks away from probably the biggest test of my life and I realize yeah I have been studying the WRONG BOOK!!! So I had to buy the Version V and now I am working through that... lost th emoney from Version 3.0/4.0 and the online practice things and probably - can't say I totally wasted my time though because the brush up using the 3.0 book was good... now onto bigger and better things.. I am so nervous, excited and scared all at the same time.> I have been out of school for 20+ years taking care of my children.. guess it is my turn to learn. :)

hey there

i took the version previous to this (took it in sept '09) and now have to retake it for a pgm i may enter in the fall...

on the previous version, I got an 82... not great, but way above what my school wanted (a 67).

anyone know what version V is like compared to previous versions?? I've also been out of school for 3+ years..I'm kinda nervous... I just ordered the ATI study guide.

thanks!

good luck to all!

I'm taking the Teas V exam in April, and wanted to know what to study. I will order the book on-line, but what about the vocabulary, and Science area I've been hearing about. I absolutely need direction. Any feedback will

be very much appreciated. I'm nervous about that test. :heartbeat

If your are ordering the ATI book then you are set. It covers everything you will need to know and nothing that you won't. I highly recommend ordering the online practice exams since they mimic how the test is worded and laid out.

Thank you so much. I'm going to study relentlessly. I'm so excited to take the test, and nervous at

the same time. Thank you bunches.

The national average is 63.3% according to my score sheet.

As for the practice exams from the book, the english and reading are pretty much what you will see on the test. The math was similar to the test. The practice exam for the science section was way off. The science questions on the test were a lot more involved and detailed. I was panicking while taking the science portion b/c it was so hard, but I surprisingly did pretty well.

I spent so much time memorizing formulas and conversions and on the test they actually gave the conversions we needed to answer the question! There were only a few questions that required conversions in the first place. When you're taking the math section, make sure you keep track of time! When I took the practice exams, I always had about 15 min left over but on the actual exam, I was doing the work so slowly and carefully that I almost ran out of time on the math.

To whoever is taking the exam: Relax! You will most likely do better than you think you will. Don't get discouraged while you are testing either even if you think you're doing badly. I was worrying so much for no reason - I got an 86%

Good luck :monkeydance:

THIS! Relax, you will probably do better than you think. I also made an 86%. The science was difficult, and I made my worst score in it. However, english, math and reading were all easy and brought my score up. :clown:

Thank you very much for all your information regarding the Teas v exam. I'm taking your advice, and I will try to relax:coollook:. You did amazing on your's. Wish me luck.

Hi everyone! I just took the TEAS V this morning and here are my pleasing results.

Adjusted Individual Score: 88.7%

ATI Academic Preparedness Level: Advanced

Mean-National: 63.3%

Mean-Program: 68.9%

Percentile Rank-National: 99

Percentile Rank-Program: 97

I scored a 100% on the math portion and only missed one in the language. WOOT!

I'm very pleased with these results. Here are a few tips that may help. I ordered the ATI TEAS V study guide as well as the two online practice exams. I read all the sections of the book and then took one (of the two) exams that are in the back of the book. After i graded the practice exam i went back and studied my weak points. Once i brushed up on those points i went and took one of the online practice exams. I took one of the book and practice exams about 3 weeks before the exam and then studied my weak areas. A week before the exam i took another practice exam again and then took the online practice exam the day before the actual exam, also studied my weak areas after each exam. This helped to drill in the concepts that were tricky.

Exam 1 book: 84%

Exam 1 online: 80.7%

Exam 2 book: 86.6%

Exam 2 online: 74.7%

The online practice exams were significantly harder than the book versions. I'm not sure what happened with the last online exam, it just seemed a lot harder than the first.

The official exam seemed to be quite a bit easier than the online practice exams, but on par with the book exams in difficulty. Both the online and book practice exams will give you a very real example of what the actual exam will be like. If you take all four practice exams you will see a lot of reoccuring questions types that you may see again *wink*. Overall, the study guide provides you with a pretty good coverage of info that you will need to know for the exam. You may see things on the exam that you do not see in the study manual, but the manual will atleast provide you with enough info to make an educated guess.

Anyway, just study study study, take your time on the exam and READ EACH QUESTION CAREFULLY...i can't tell you how many times i answered a questions wrong on the practice exams because i rushed the question and overlooked pertinent info that led me to answer it incorrectly; of course, this helped me to be on alert for these types of questions on the actual exam. Well, hope this helps.

P.S. sorry for the bad grammar. I'm just excited i did much better than i thought i would! YAY!

Hi, I'm new to this and was wondering which online websites did you use? Also, did you purchase this study guide?:
