New Student Nervousness!

I'm graduating high school this year and am hoping to Start LVN school in August. At first I felt like I was on top of the world, so READY. But now I'm nervous about the workload. I've never had to really study for anything besides anatomy class. Any suggestions?

Aww I wish I had done the LPN program right out of high school , but you live & learn :) Anyways, just stay on top of your reading. My program asked us NCLEX-style test questions from day 1, so it would be helpful to buy an NCLEX study book too. Also, stay organized when it comes to assignments! I've seen many of my classmates fail b/c they did not turn in their assignments/care plans, etc.. And also, if your program is anything like mine it may help to review skills by looking at videos on youtube, or buying DVD's from amazon,etc..that way you can practice & review. Good luck!! It is hard work, but you CAN make it through!

Don't take this the wrong way but I saw a lot of young people fresh out of high school fail in my program because they weren't mature enough to handle the workload and the seriousness of the occupation. You can totally do this if you have the right mindset about it. Be realistic about the expectations and know what you're getting into. It's going to be hard and tough and you're not going to be perfect all the time. Get with a group of students that are focused and driven, maybe a group that is slightly older and experienced. Stay away from those that like to party at that age. Do your reading, all of it, and study hard. Don't expect to have much of a social life and eliminate any distractions that could deter you from your goal. Stay focused on the outcome you want and you'll always find a way to make it happen. I agree. Im a walking living example, except it wasnt the LPN program, it was the RN. although i finished ALL my prereqs right after HS i wasnt focused and mature enough to handle it. i failed NRSNG I and got kicked out. Couldn't wait for the RN program anymore so i went for the LPN program 2 yrs after HS. messed up my life timeline, now paying for my mistakes...
