New salary survey

Published

Hi All,

I was an LPN for 25 years. I am now an A.D. R.N. Please tell me what you make in your part of the country. I am presently on a travel assignment in Philadelphia, and was thinking of staying here. I had one job offer near Sacramento CA. and they only offered me 22/hr! Isn't that extremely low since the cost of living is so HIGH?

Thanks!:rotfl:

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

In CT most places start you over 30 bucks an hour. LPN's get about 26 an hour. It's one of the best payed states.

Look at salary.com :)

Specializes in cardiac/critical care/ informatics.

In ohio I make 27.18 with 13 years exp in the same hospital. However i was told about a nurse in akron that makes 35 an hour but I don't know if they work a different shift or what.

Specializes in O.R., ED, M/S.

Every place is different around the country. Salaries should be adjusted according to the cost of living in the area. Don't be fooled by high salaries in places where you won't be able to buy or even rent. Experience will always, usually, lead you to higher pay even after a few years. I do well today only because I am willing to work hard, long hours to do so. Right now I make $40/hr base but work alot of OT and other places part-time to gross about $140,000 this year. Working in the OR allows this where other specialties restrict you to regular time with no un-approved OT. I work in SoCal and live in NorCal. Mike

Specializes in ICU, CCU,Wound Care,LTC, Hospice, MDS.

In Western Nebraska, I make just over $20 / hr. and I consider it good.

Most places? I lived in CT until this summer, and just this past spring got raised to over $30/hr...with 20 years experience. Mid $20s was pretty standard. If you get $30/hr as a "future RN," I will truly cry. I don't begrudge the new nurses their pay, but I am darned sick of the wage compression where experienced nurses make a dollar an hour more if they're lucky...and sometimes less than the new grads. Grrrr.

I moved to AZ where I now make less as a supervisor than I did as a worker bee in CT.

$11-16 an hour in Texas?? I know cost of living may be different but WOW. I made $13 as an nurse extern (student) this summer in DC. New grads in Baltimore, Maryland make around $24 an hour, plus differential, and cost of living is moderate I guess, depending on where you live, but going wayyy up.

I have been an RN for 5 years, and was an LPN for 7.

I was just offered two salary jobs. No over time pay. No pay for call.

$37,000. a year.

Wages suck in the Texas Panhandle!

Now you know why I'm a traveler, too!
