new RN. no work :(

Published

HI everyone, i recently passed NCLEX-RN here in California and has no any previous clinical experience here at US .. Can anyone give me advice or insights about starting my professional career as a registered nurse? 'Coz almost all hospitals and even skilled facilities don't hire new nurses :( .

Specializes in ICU.

look for internships or nurse residency programs. They are for new grads to start out. They only start a few times per year, depending on the hospital.

just an example:

hi.. I'm a new RN too.. I just got my license yesterday and I started preparing for job hunting today.. we have the same problem, i don't have any work experience here in US too, and most hospitals hiring requires at least one year work experience.. Good luck to both of us..

I have several friends that are in the same boat. do you know of any new grad programs for RN's in Hawaii?

Hi there I'm from the Philippines too :)...yes, most of them requires one year acute care experience.

I've searched for the new grad programs but sadly I've missed the dates for filing of applications.. Am I too late in this season? BTW I'm from San Diego.

I really don't know what to do and I'm starting to get frustrated. :(

glad to hear you're from the philippines too.. where exactly in the philippines did you come from? and by the way, im from union city, CA..

let's just keep on trying, im pretty sure there's a job that awaits us..we just have to be patient..

if you ever you find new grad programs can you pls notify me? :))

from BICOL. :)

From what I've heard California is getting hit the hardest with the lack of new grad RN jobs... have you considered relocating or at least just looking at options out of state?

The job market in the Us stinks right now and thee are nw grads and experience nurses all across the United States that cannot find work and are being laid off........search this web site....there are plenty of threads that addresses this issue.......

:spnngwlcm: TOTHE CLUB....... I wish you good luck!! :)

Specializes in Geriatrics, Home Health.

Last fall, I did flu shots for Mollen Immunization Clinics. I met a lot of new grads who were doing the clinics as their first job. The clinics were in stores, they paid well, and the work was easy once I got the hang of it. They should start hiring in August for the fall.

Good luck to all of us :D
