i'm from the philippines, migrated here in ca after my graduation, and don't have any work experience. i just passed my nclex and received my license last week! i checked the website of the hospitals around my area but they don't have any entry level position. i'm thinking of working in a nursing home first (is that the same as long term care facility?), maybe stay there in a year then apply in a hospital. will that be a good step? i'm really interested in working in medical-surgical or pediatrics, but i know that i have a very slim chance of getting hired in a hospital right now..should i start in a nursing home first? there's one facility here in my place, they call it "subacute" which is also a nursing home..please give me some advise! thanks!

december2905, i have a question for you regarding nclex application, which is offtopic, so, i don't want to post it here.. i really need your help but i can't send you a private message yet, since this is my first post.. if you have time, please send me a private message, though i'm not sure if it would be possible for me to reply considering i don't have 15 posts yet.. if you could just try, it would mean a lot.. thank you. :nuke:
any advise? i'll appreciate it a lot...
i was right.. i can't reply to your message..
so here's my question.. are you a batch 2008 graduate in the philippines, or batch 2007? and did you take the local board exam before you migrated here in CA? thanks..
about your question, i know i'm not in the position to give you an advice (cause i'm not even a registered nurse yet).. but i hope this helps: why don't you try looking for new RN grad programs available in your area.. you can check your preferred hospital's website to find out more about their programs.. :nuke:
i'm batch 2007 and yes, i took and passed the local board exam before I migrated here..

Please check out the International Forum for specifics as to requirements for licensure for the foreign grad.
CA is now requiring the local license before they will permit one to test.
And questions can be posted right on the International Forum if they concern licensure and immigration issues, or anything else for that matter.
You may not send a pm until you have 15 posts.
New grad programs are quite limited in her area. All of the schools were out in the past couple of months as well, so most positions for now are full.
Not sure if you are familiar as to what is going on with new grads in CA at this time.
