NEW RN ....just accept any job?

Published

Hello I just found out I passed my NCLEX yesterday :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Now, I have a interview on Tuesday....this hospital isn't in the best area..

anyway..my question is...should I just accept if she offers me the job on Tuesday?

OR should I tell her to please give me a couple more days..bc there are other managers that may call me?

THanks :D

If the job sounds good, accept it. The best hospitals are often in the 'worst' neighborhoods.

I guess it just depends on how quickly you need to find work. If you are not in any hurry then I would hold off until you found something at a hospital that you prefer... but with the tight job market right now, if you are concerned about waiting, possibly months, then I would take this job. Also, listen to what your instincts are telling you, they will normally lead you down the right path. Good luck with your decision!

thank yall .... Yea i would work anywhere....just i need a great friendly, preceptor..that is willing to teach!

my main goal is to deliver safe, quality care.....SO with that said..i don't mind

BUT i do have lots of student loans...and any money..is good for me....i need to start re paying my loans...so..

i def can't wait couple of months...bc i have no family help...so I need to get money to get a car !!!!

any other comments?

Accept a job. Get experience.

Accept the job and keep looking. Don't ever tell one employer that you're waiting for another one to call you. That's a sure way not to get the job because while you're waiting, there's other applicants who are dying to get that position

yea thats what i was thinking too.....

thanks people

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

If jobs are hard to come by in your area I would accept.

Specializes in Med Surg - Renal.

I quickly accepted the first job I was offered (today) - it was the one I really wanted: Graduate Nurse Residency Program at my preferred hospital!!

Congrats MN-NURSE!

The job that I am getting will have a preceptor helping me out for a period of time.

It's not really a official residency program...so that is also making me nervous to accept..you know?

Or should I not be nervous.and just think...oh the preceptor will help me throughout it all? ???

Specializes in Neurology.

I agree with the previous posters to get experience, but in my case I did turn down the first job I was offered. I had an interview lined up for an ICU position, so I gambled and turned down the first job offer. I did end up getting the ICU job that I wanted so it worked out for me. Good luck.

ok now i have a interesting situation...

I have a interview next week on Wednesday, and then one on Friday....

I want to meet both managers..and see both hosiptals...before saying yes to a job...BUT what if the manager on Wednesday asks me right then and there..do you want to accept?

What the heck do i do
