U.S.A. Texas

CONGRATULATIONS :yeah:to all that got accepted into the nursing program at Lone Star College and also the ones put on as alternates (hang in there, I have read good news for alternates in previous threads). Its been a long hard road for some of us and some its prabably been easy. I wanted to start a new thread for North Harris fall "09" students (or who every wants to comment or give tips.) Reading from previous threads I understand nursing school is not an easy tasks. So, hopefully this thread can help us entering into this new life we are about to experience for the next 2 yrs.

I was hoping we can form a study group to jump start us off before school starts. I heard that students usually have their group going by the first day of class. I am a little shy when it comes to meeting new people, but once I am comfortable I fit in just fine. I know from the previous thread a few of us admitted our shyness in a new environment. So, hopefully this thread can help us jump start our group...

Have anyone start working on their CPR, shots, physical and etc. Do anyone have to take pharm this summer? As for me, I have to take pharm this summer. I wish I had already taken it earlier so I could have enjoyed my summer.

Im thinking about humble im trying to go somewhere wher their wont be a lot of trafic since its so early in the a.m. And for me humble would be perfect and i want to get all done in three days to have more time to study i work also in a pharmay and i hope to be able to continue to work at least three days out the week to have money for a margaritta or two lol!!

I have been looking over the schedule last night and this morning. I live 10-15 minutes away from Healthsouth in Humble, so I am thinking I want to get that schedule - and also to get it all done in 3 days....I don't want to do PM half days because by the time I would get my kids off to school and start studying, it would be time to get ready to leave...or if I worked AM half days, because by the time I got home and got to studying, it'd be time to pick up the kids from daycare....so I really hope I get my first option...Has anyone heard anything about the professors?? Who is best.....and whatnot...???

I think we all are on the same page ( goo123 and Lizzienick311) ,,, I was thinking Humble or 1960 and for sure I want the 3 days, I dont mind doing 7-5pm because I will be off Thursdays and every other Fridays to study and catch up on somethings... Maybe I will choose the Humble as well since we plan to be study partners... Make sure we pick our schedules early July 1st so we can get the choice we want... Also, Lizzienick311, I think we ALL have to pick the first professor on the list for now,,, I will be going to North Harris tomorrow or Monday so I will ask what they mean about all students having the same Lecture/ Lab but different clinicals... If anyone understand what that mean please let me know...

Yeah, I was just wondering if anyone had heard or had any comments or "reviews" on the different professors. Humble's schedule is with Prof. Rosen.....She looks nice in her picture.. LOL.... That would be great if we all got the Wednesday clinical at Healthsouth! I will be online at 9:55 am on July 1st!!

What do they mean when the schedule say " please register for your clinical section FIRST. ALL STUDENTS will register for section 11001 of RNSG 1523 and 1119 (lecture and lab). Only clinical section number will differ from your classmates. I am lost with that info... but what I kind of got out of it is that all students will first have Professor Malone-Thomas section 11001 at the top of the page.. I will also be online very early July 1st to get the 8-12am class for the RNSG 1172 also..

Yeah I am going to register for the 8-12 RNSG 1172 class as well. OK... here is the thing..... you will pick out the clinical schedule on this list that was emailed yesterday..... that is the professor you will have for the clinical....When you register on MyRecords you will input the clinical section number and then your lecture/lab and insurance will automatically be added to your "shopping cart"...you won't have to do a search for the class lecture/lab or insurance. Does this explain it? For example: I am choosing the clinical schedule for Humble's Healthsouth on Wednesdays from 7am-5pm. In my records i would search for course RNSG 1361 and section #11005 and it should come up. I would then add it to my "shopping cart".....then my lecture/lab/insurance would all be added...I wouldn't have to search for those...they will be the same schedule for EVERYONE in the program.

Sounds good,, I kind of figured that out, so you just confirmed it.. Thanks a million, ... So we all will have the same lecture/lab for now just different clinicals... Have you turned in all your paper work yet?

I haven't turned in the paperwork yet. Went and did physical, blood work, and immunization stuff yesterday. Will get all that back Friday or first part of next week and then I can turn everything in.

Ok lizzienick311 and tyshe we have to get in these classes together im starting to get nervous now it's all about to happened!!!scary

Yes Goo, we DO all need to get in the same clinical!!! I am really excited, but nervous too!! where do you live at goo?

We have to make sure we are online very early (Goo123 and Lizzienick311), I am shaking in my boots, but so ready to become an RN...
