NEW PHILIPPINE PASSPORT have no signature field

Published

I'm taking my exam in makati next week. my passport (the new maroon Philippine machine-readable passport) have no signature field. I'm really confused coz' i know identification must have signature in it.

Help pls.. Thanks!

If you have no signature field at the back then you MUST provide another government issued ID with a photo and signature at the testing center.

Ideally you should go to DFA and get a new passport since the one without signature can cause problems later on.

thank you sir hushdawg :)

FYI: the new passports (begun in March 2010) have a digital signature on the page with your photo.

I swear, this country changes passport styles more often than it changes leaders!

Heyo! Zing!

Is this the electronic passport (the one with the electronic chip) or the machine readable passport?.

I just don't know what's the difference between the two, of course, the e-passport cost higher (950PHP).

My green passport is about to expire on May 2010 that is why i am inquiring what passport should I get.

Well you don't have a choice, DFA converted the passport type in March so everyone renewing MUST get the E-passport.

No, you still have a choice between Machine readable passport and E-passport. It's your choice when you apply. The Machine readable cost 500 pesos while the E-passport cost 950 pesos. The e-passport was made available on August 2009. I am just wondering what kind or type of passport will be launched last March 2010.

As I've already said. In March, 2010 DFA changed the regulations.

I had 4 applicants whose passports they canceled mid-processing because they changed all the regulations.

ALL new passports are the E-passport according to the DFA statement issued in March.

Also, NO AGENCY IS ALLOWED TO PROCESS PASSPORTS.

Each applicant is required to go to DFA website and apply him/herself and then present at DFA on the date indicated.

Where did you get the DFA statement that is issued in March regarding E-passport? I just called DFA hotline and they told me that E-passport is an option if you don't like Machine readable passport. They also denied that there is no DFA instruction regarding E-passport the only instruction letter they know is that they are moving to a new location for passport processing.

Amazing.

I got the statement from the DFA themselves when I went to process passports for some nurses.
