I just started the program @ CP last week, when are you transferring in?
have applied to enter school, then in dec to program, was in mtc program 1/2 thru first clinicals, had to drop, but cpcc was first choice in beginning. finishing micro this semester as well as cna, can use advice, especially about seeking cna work. in columbia, pay is ridiculous & no benefits at all. any suggestions?

hi. i am looking to move to charlotte, wilmington, charleston, atlanta... anywhere in between. do any of these school mentioned here offer an LPN to ADN track. i just graduated and want my credits and hard work to count for something. why are u leaving midland tech. is CPCC better?? thanks. i know how frustrating it is having to find a school and work. i am doing the same thing, only i am moving from TEXAS.

hi, i was planning on attending cpcc for the adn program but just recently decided to go with carolinas medical center nursing program.
but ive heard MANY times cp is really known for nursing. and alot of graduated nursing students have told me that they 100% prepare you for the nclex exam!
so id definetly go with cpcc. you should apply early, b/c it is a yr waiting list if you get accepted.

:mortarboard: GOOD LUCK in your endeavors!!!
thanks everyone for replies & info. i had to guess that cpcc made you wait a year after getting in, my only drawback is getting residency in nc, specifically charlotte. trying to find a sympathetic landlord who understands my problem.
ncgrace 29, thanks especially for your input about cpcc. why did you go the carolinas medical route? i have also been recommended to try presbyterian's route w/queens after i can hopefully land a cna postition there soon.
any advice anyone? thanks in advance
That's not true. They accept applications in Dec, send out acceptance letters in March, and start in Aug (for Fall). They go by a points system (based on your GPA, experience, and pre-reqs) and they take the top ~60. The only way you make a 'waiting list' is if you weren't in the top ~60, then you go on stand by. The good thing is that they now have fall & spring enrollment so if you don't make fall you can try for spring.
I have heard fabulous things about the Queens/Presby program but I just couldn't afford it, even with Presby's tuition assistance.

I started the ADN program at CPCC in fall '06. I finished Fundamentals and Psych and then withdrew near the end of last spring semester during Adult Nursing.
I've been accepted to start back this coming spring semester with the graduating class of '08. Sucks that it means an extra year 'til graduating, but hey...I'm just excited about going back!
The silver lining is that the new class takes Psych with Adult Nursing in the spring instead of with fundies in the fall. Sooo...I'll actually sorta be one course ahead of my class. One less clinical day per week, yippee!
The not so silver lining is: they've introduced a new pharmacology component for fall that was absent from my class last year. So I'm sort of afraid I'll be behind in some respects...especially after 9 months out of school!
Anyway, I'll be seeing y'all in January :wink2: Good luck finishing out this semester.
Like a previous poster said, CPCC is all about the points. I was never put on a waiting list.
