finally as my boys have gotten older, i recently returned to school to finish my adn-rn. started at midlands tech (columbia,sc), but will be transferring this fall to cpcc(charlotte,nc). just also finishing cna, so will need to work too, any recommendations from those of you have had taken this route. BTW, i am way too "experienced" in life (lol), so ANY info, no matter how trivial would be appreciated. especially those "what not to do s ".....thanks

I started the ADN program at CPCC in fall '06. I finished Fundamentals and Psych and then withdrew near the end of last spring semester during Adult Nursing.

I've been accepted to start back this coming spring semester with the graduating class of '08. Sucks that it means an extra year 'til graduating, but hey...I'm just excited about going back!

The silver lining is that the new class takes Psych with Adult Nursing in the spring instead of with fundies in the fall. Sooo...I'll actually sorta be one course ahead of my class. One less clinical day per week, yippee!

The not so silver lining is: they've introduced a new pharmacology component for fall that was absent from my class last year. So I'm sort of afraid I'll be behind in some respects...especially after 9 months out of school!

Anyway, I'll be seeing y'all in January :wink2: Good luck finishing out this semester.

When I get to the Pharm part this semester I'll email you some of the information and stuff if you want. If you're interested PM me and let me know.

If not, I'll be seeing you in the spring!!

hey guys, I too, am aware of the points system. whenever I met with a counselor at the north campus of CPCC, the woman at the time did tell me it would be a year to get in if I applied now. I'm not sure if there were special circumstances regarding my situation or what... so sorry about that.

As far as why I have decided to go to cmc or rather CCHS, it's basically because I am planning on entering the pre-nursing program and as long as you complete the 4 core courses with the required passing GPA, then you are gauranteed a seat in the nursing program. This is very appealing to me, seeing as how in highschool I had very mediocre grades (so getting into the nursing program would be very difficult for me!).

Anyways, CP, CCHS, & Pres. are all highly regarded for their nursing programs and many have said they prepare you for exams fully. I also know that it should be very easy securing a job. So good luck in whatever you do!

I marked CPCC off my list because a rep there told me that it was impossible to get in unless you did 20 hours of volunteer work per week (ridiculous!) and have that on your application for admission, and I also heard that they had a very low pass rate on state boards.

i've come to find out that so called advisors are full of crap. they give you misinformation and omit quite a bit. the volunteer work thing is not true. i've never volunteered a day in my life and got in first try.

i don't think that their record is all that bad, especially considering how much it costs compared to the other programs. and they have a new director over the program this year.
