I've been doing some relief charging here lately and I've come across a small issue. We have a new nurse who used to be an aid on the floor. I know the other aids mistreated him a bit when he was an aid but he never really said anything. Fast forward now and I'm getting reports from the aides that he's been rather hateful to them and over delegating. Personally I have not seen this and to be honest I can kinda see where he's coming from but do I have an obligation to report this to the director or should I just let it go.

Why don't you go directly to him first and find out what is going on if anything. You will need to maintain a good relationship with your peers and part of that is resolving any issues with people directly before running to managment.

This is what I would do: I would ask the aides what exactly is being over-delegated, it may be that he is overwhelmed and so is delegating tasks that do not require his intervention/skill set.
With that information, I would then approach him about how he's transitioning, and if he is having any issues with workers. At this time I would mention that some aides (don't mention names) feel like he may be asking too much, and offer some ways he can offset that; such as please and thank you's, or explaining to them why he is delegating said task.
As a general rule of thumb you should try to sort out issues yourself before escalating, we are professionals after all.
I, like him was a tech in the same unit where I later became a nurse; nothing hurt more than my coordinators/manager pulling me aside because a nurse who I thought was a friend mentioned some concerns to them instead of talking directly to me.

It's far from a small issue. Direct the aids to stop their whining to you ( a relief charge nurse).. and follow the proper chain of command with written documentation describing the"rather hateful and over delegating".
It is nearly impossible to move up from an aid position ..to a position of authority on the same unit. Most facilities would not place him on the same unit.
You know , and I know they are ganging up on him. I would give him an unofficial head's up.
It is not up to a relief charge nurse ( or any charge nurse) to resolve issues between a new nurse and former colleagues.

As someone who has been in that nurse position , I would suggest you talk to him first before going to management. Also get specific details from the aides who are reporting him, over delegating and hateful are subjective and general terms. Reporting directly to management without fact checking can lead to more issues.

Sounds like the aids can't delegation from a former aid. You are encouraging this bad behavior. Tell them to shut and do their jobs. If the the delegation is appropriate just do it
