New Nurse Manager

Published

Seems like just yesterday I was posting how my first Patient passed away...now I'm here! I was just looking for some advice on good organizations to join as a nursing manager. I haven't been part of organizations on a regular basis, mostly just honor society and such, but the financial advisor says there's a budget for staff to pay for organizational fees.

So mostly just curious what everyone enjoys or recommends, also I'm in Arizona if there are any specific to this state.

Thanks everyone and hope everyone's Turkeyday planning is going well.

I would just look at the ones that are specific to your specialty. As an OB nurse manager, I am a member of AWHONN (women's health, OB and neonate) and ILCA (lactation consultant).

Specializes in Tele, ICU, Staff Development.

The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) is a very good one for nursing leadership

Thank you Beth and Klone, I'll look into them :)

AONE is probably the most recognizable and largest specific to nursing leadership. However, the ANA is the largest nursing organizations and I am sure there are plenty of opportunities to network with leaders. I would advise you to just look at both and see which one best fits your needs.

Specializes in ED, ICU, MS/MT, PCU, CM, House Sup, Frontline mgr.

I will piggy back off of this thread and ask my question.... Does the Nurse Executive Org only focus on nurse executives? Can those of us lower on the totem pole benefit joining prior to being in senior/executive level leadership?

I am planning to join my local Association of Nurse Leadership, which encompasses all nurse leaders in the area/state.
