I didn't buy any books for the nursing concepts exams. I did buy studygroup101 notes www.studygroup101.com; and Lisa Arends notes found on ebay. I also bought Excelsior's practice exams for each of the tests. I passed all of the exams with A's and B's. Also there are exam tips that can be found on various yahoo groups and Excelsior's EPN board. I saved alot of money by not purchasing any books. Good luck with the program!
Hello all I am a new LPN to the board. I have decided to join and go ahead forward with Excelsior after one year of reading many inspirational stories. I also have a few ??????????. Do I need to buy all of the books that Excelsior has posted on their website. Thanks in advance for the replies. :)
The books on Excelsior's website are standard nursing textbooks. You could look at other nursing texts to find what you want to own in your nursing library, or buy used books from the various book websites. Or, as suggested, not buy texts at all at this time. It does not matter as long as you find resources that help you pass the exams. You can get your nursing library later, when you can afford it. Good luck with the program.
you can check out the books at your local library. but i did purchase the books through excelsior as well as borders. i like the option of being able to hi-lite and leave notes in the margins, not to mention the cd's in the back of the book have some good nclex style questions. we're gonna need these books for the NCLEX anyhow. hope this helps and good luck. i'm preparing for NC5 testing on 8-31
Not really. I was able to use a lot of my LPN books especially for Med-Surg. And I think I bought an older edition Psychology book they recommended for about $5.00 off of HALF.com
I did this as well as checked out some from my local library. I ALWAYS bought the practice exams and I went on yahoo groups and joined some EC sites that had other people's posted notes ect..
i bought all of my books off amazon...and borrowed one of the most expensive ones from work. are you working now? do you have access to books there? i am a float nurse, so every different department i go to, i check out the library on their floor...never know when i may need to borrow something!
