  1. Just bumping. And will just answer my own question. I got into the FNP program and it took about 4-5 weeks to receive my acceptance.
  2. To those who have applied to LIU's FNP or any other NP program, how long, from mailing the required information (transcripts, references, etc) did you here back on the decision if you got in or not? Just trying to get an idea of this timeline. Thank you.
  3. No. They're 2 different hospital systems.
  4. christineGRN, I will be at the Katz Women's Hospital working nights in labor and delivery.
  5. Just bumping. I was offered a position at NSLIJ this past Friday! I'm so excited and can't wait to start.
  6. Thank you for the insight @FreestylePete.I had emailed the recruiter last week and she said she would finalize my survey/references but haven't heard anything yet even after emailing again today. I just hate this waiting game because I'm currently working agency and want to pick up another hospital but I'm not doing so yet because I'm still waiting on NSLIH's decision. Good luck with your upcoming NYP interview though!
  7. Was this after you completed the survey? But no I'm applying at the new women's hospital.
  8. To those who currently work for NSLIJ, when they ask for you to complete the survey/references is this usually a good sign? Also, how long after completion of the survey did you hear back from the nursing recruiter? I'm just curious about if they will call to let you know if you got or didn't get the position.
  9. I graduated from JU's ASN-to-BSN last year, it was great. Took me exactly a year to finish. Now I'm doing my MSN through Chamberlain.
  10. Hi Becky, The start of my L&D experience was from Orlando, FL at Winnie Palmer where we did 14-15,000k deliveries a year. And now I'm doing per diem here in NYC and can give you some quick information on differences here in the state. Here, there is honestly hardly any autonomy. Most hospitals you will NOT being doing SVE, IUPC/FSE placement, Cytotec placement and such. There was even one hospital I went to where only the MD's titrated the pitocin and not the nurses (huh?) Most of the hospitals have MD's but some will also have midwives, ie: I do work at Woodhull Medical in Brooklyn and the midwives do the majority of the deliveries and there's no private doctors but we do have 2 attendings. Woodhull does not have OB residents but residents/students may pass by for a few days then leave. Also, Woodhull does do VBAC's if able to. As for continuing education, that depends on the facility. Some facilities have inhouse CE's and some others you have to go off-site to complete. Also in Florida I was use to my department paying for CE courses but I noticed here in NY you have to PAY for the class FIRST, then get reimbursed from your job. But yeah, I honestly feel the difference and can say I am so glad I was able to function independently as an L&D nurse in the past. I hope other people will chime in with their experiences, hth's!
  11. Does anyone have experience with Gotham? I am trying to figure out if I should continue with White Glove (which I haven't started working for yet) or look into Gotham instead. Thank you!
  12. I don't know If I'm understanding your question correctly but.. Both Cornell and Columbia are apart of the NYP hospital system. So it really doesn't matter where you wind up at because you can always do an internal transfer from one to the other.
  13. just a side note but they actually do closer to 7k deliveries a year, so they are the busiest in the state of ny, not the us. i use to work for winnie palmer hospital in orlando, fl and we did twice that much (14k+) and we were like number 2 in the country. just some fyi...
  14. @gspice71 and @rn kate, i just emailed both of you the nyp pharm info. i'm surprised you guys didn't received anything because that is one of the first emails your hr rep sends you once you get an offer. also, i do not know anything about the pediatric exam because i did not have to take that. but the sample exam is the same flow you should expect on the exam being that is is provided by the nln. so just know your general meds, side effects, etc and get a 100% on calculations and you should be fine. also like mentioned prior, you should delete or edit your email addresses because you can get spammed.
