Hi All,
I just got an email today from Excelsior, plus it is on their Home Page... anyone who enrolls on or after October 1, 2011 will be required to have minimum 2 credit hours of Math... they were threatening to add this requirement...
SO... anyone 'on the fence', who doesn't have and/or doesn't want to take a Math class... enroll before September 30th to avoid this new requirement!!

Yeah, I just signed up for EC & fear the new math thing too... I dislike math with a passion & am considering enrolling before that date just to avoid having to take math! I think it's less credits with other things though, am I correct?

I knew something was "afoot" when I requested permission to use an Aleks course (college algebra) as an elective. The adviser used language like "..according to your enrollment date, you do not have a math requirement..." I'm sure glad that I enrolled when I did, but then again I don't really mind math.
For those who may not make the enrollment date, Aleks has a great online math course. Check them out http://aleks.com

I second that the Aleks are ACE reviewed and EC accepts them (6cr of mine came from them). They are cheap only $20/ month, AND if you are very careful taking the initial assessment and score 70% or better YOU ARE DONE, and can get credit at that point. Oh, and the initial assessment doesn't have to be completed all in one sitting, break it up for however long you need.
