Well, it's official. My old job is over as of December 13th, 2006. For those of you familiar with my situation, my friend has gotten her background cleared and her waiver completed. She is eligible to come back whenever, but she doesn't want to force me out any sooner than I need to leave. Already I know this job won't work with next semester as I need T 11-4, R 1-4, and Fridays off. too many hours missing. Am already dreading having to say goodbye to residents again.
So....I went to hospital today to interview for ortho/neuro unit student CNA patient tech position. Night shift 12 hrs, 3x/wk. I must have done something right, because 1st job I apply for, 5 hrs later HR calls me to offer me the job. I jumped at it and start orientation the M after finals week. Works because I am preceptored for 4-6 weeks and I'll be flexible without having to worry about school.
Nice unit, rooms have just been redone to look more "hotelish". Flat screen plasmas, sink next to bed, room to store supplies/equipment in room, etc. Not too shabby.
I know it'll be challenging, but I'm ready to face it and do what I need to do to get through school! Plus I figure it'll look good when interviewing in 1.5 years to say I have hospital expierence. Wish me luck and thanks to all those who gave me support when dealing with this temporary fill back at my other job.
Congrats!!!! I work on a Trauma unit (we get a fair amount of Ortho as well). Hard work, but I LOVE it!
BTW, our hospitals other site has a new tower with the flat panel tv's. Our new tower, currently under construction, also will have the same tv's. They're pretty nice!
